In the video below, Metal Matt speaks with new Alice Cooper guitarist, Gyasi, about joining the band for the Alice Cooper Band’s first new album together in 52 years, The Revenge Of Alice Cooper.

Gyasi talks about how he got the chance to land this unique opportunity, and how the old school fans reacted. An excerpt follows…

Metal Matt: “This kinda came out of nowhere, I think they’ve been keeping this under their hat for a long time, and all the Alice Cooper fans are going crazy now, because there’s a new album with the original Alice Cooper band; including you. You have been invited to join them. I just want to know how did that happen, because that’s a really unique opportunity and it’s great to see that it’s happening, so how did that actually happen in the first place?

Gyasi: “Yeah it’s pretty wild, I was as surprised as anybody, I think Bob Ezrin was looking for somebody to fit in with the band, with the absence of Glen Buxton, and I don’t think they wanted to go the studio session musician route, like they have on a lot of previous records, I mean the list of guitar players on Alice’s records… it’s just insane, Wayne Kramer, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Hunter. They’re just all the top players, it’s wild. And yeah I think they wanted someone…

“It was surprising to me that they were, you know, looking so outside of those circles. There’s a guy in Nashville called Mike Grimes, and he runs an amazing record store called “Grimey’s” and he also runs the Basement East in Nashville, which is one of the best venues here, and he’s just really plugged into the scene, he’s a huge part of the Nashville community, and has helped many bands careers, you know; Cage The Elephant, and he’s just you know, really a great guy, and great part of the Nashville community.

“And he also knows everybody, every new band that plays Grimey’s usually there, he goes to lots of shows and Bob I guess knew that about him and asked him if he recommended anyone, and Grimey thought of me I think; immediately.

“But you know, it was like he thought of me and probably some other people and then he said, ‘well let me ask two completely unrelated sources,’ so he went and asked one of his close friends from back home and the first person that they suggested was me, and then I think he went and asked somebody totally separate, I think at Third Man Records and then I was also the first thing. [laughs]

“So it was kinda like the first name that came up from multiple sources, so he sent Bob and Alice some of my music, and they listened to it and then Bob Ezrin called me, he was like, ‘yeah put me in touch.’ So I was on tour in New Orleans and I got a phone call out the blue and it was Bob Ezrin.”

For the first time in over 50 years, the original Alice Cooper group has reunited to release a brand-new studio album, The Revenge Of Alice Cooper, set to release on July 25 via earMUSIC.

This highly anticipated album is heralded as the successor to their iconic records Schools Out, Billion Dollar Babies, Love It To Death, and Killer.

The first single from the album, “Black Mamba,” is out now, featuring the legendary Robby Krieger of The Doors. This track serves as a venomous introduction to the new era of Alice Cooper, packed with familiar classic riffs and electrifying energy.

The Revenge Of Alice Cooper is a high-voltage journey into vintage horror and classic ’70s shock rock, capturing the sound, energy, and mischief that made the original Alice Cooper band legendary. In a truly special moment, the album features a posthumous appearance by Glen Buxton, the band’s original guitarist who passed away in 1997, through an unreleased recording that seamlessly blends the past with the present on “What Happened To You,” featuring his original guitar part.

If that wasn’t cool enough, one of the bonus tracks (box set & limited smart format) also includes a long-lost gem from 1970 – a raw, alternate take of “Return Of The Spiders” (not the version heard on Easy Action) – recently unearthed from original multi-tracks missing for 50 years and now enhanced and mixed by Bob Ezrin.

Alice, Neal, Michael, and Dennis have reunited with their producer Bob Ezrin in a old-school recording studio in Connecticut, rekindling the magic from the 70s.

This album is a celebration of friendship, nostalgia, and the timeless sound that solidified Alice Cooper as a rock icon. Fans can expect a powerful and nostalgic experience that bridges the gap between the band’s storied past and their vibrant present.

From the venomous bite of “Black Mamba” to the rebellious charge of “Wild Ones,” and the soft, haunting melodies of “See You On The Other Side,” every track feels like a rock ‘n’ roll classic.
