Since there hasn't been any new news around here for freakin' months, I thought I'd mention that the new Alter Bridge record is out and it is a great album. Definitely different than the first cd, but it really grows on you after a couple of listens. If you were a fan of the first cd, you'll like this one. They just played a sold out show in Spokane that I went to last weekend, and they blew the roof off the place. Another Animal (Godsmack sideproject with Whitfield Crane on vocals) opened and was great too. There is about a months worth of dates left on the first leg of the US tour before they hit Europe, so see 'em if you can. It's only $25 bucks and they put on a hell of a show. The encore was "Whole Lotta Rosie" with Whitfield Crane on vocals---you can't beat that.

Anyway, I like to pass on good music tips to the folks on this board, because who knows how long it will be before the next Anthrax record sees the light of day. Mark Tremonti is a huge Anthrax fan, so you guys will probably dig a lot of it.

They are streaming parts of the record on their website. Be sure to listen to Ties that Bind, Come to Life, White Knuckles, and Blackbird. They have four of the songs in full on their myspace page too.

I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon then be forced to listen to Creednicklebackalterbridgedaysofthenewlifehouse post-grunge garbage. It's chick rock that poses as metal, get a singer that sounds like he's taking a dump ala Michael Bolton and then play some light rock with heavy distortion and pass it off as hard rock so chicks will listen to it on the radio.

No thank you.

You're right, they aren't playing the same Slayer riff over and over again and screaming at the top of their lungs like 99% of the douche-bag bands out there right now. I mean, we don't have enough metal by numbers bands out there right now do we? I'm guessing by your comments that you didn't listen to any of the songs I mentioned either.

God forbid a bit of melody and some song craftsmanship---Never mind the fact that they put on a hell of a rock show in an age where most concerts are total shit. Take the the blinders off some day, you'd be surprised what great music is out there. And for the record: What the hell is wrong with chicks liking your music? I guess Led Zeppelin must rate pretty low in your book too, eh?

Now then, I figured there were a few more open minds out there, especially since this a message board for one of the most open-minded bands in existence. I haven't posted the board for months and was trying to get a decent thread going. Whoops!

Cheers.

Out of the newer crop of bands out there, for melody and song craftsmanship I'll take Coheed and Cambria or the Mars Volta, or when I want less prog and more Rock, Queens of The Stone Age maybe some Black Stone Cherry, The Answer now there is a band that can go on on take the Arena Rock crown give some melody and song craftsmanship and put on a great Rock show.

I didn't mean to piss you off man, hell I have a Days of The New cd somewhere in my collection. I just don't care for Alter Bridge and the bands like them.

I guess I should have just answered like DumbAss and said, not my thing.

Coheed and Cambria is a very good band. Listen to them all the time. Alter Bridge/Creed are the Hootie of metal. Nobody will admit they like them but, they always sell millions of records.

ditto

I used to work with a guy who loved Creed. Never understood it; super-cool and super-nice guy, but, man, did we ever make fun of his love for Creed.

Oh yeah - not my thing. Seriously, if you like it, you should listen to it. Just not for me.
