The new chick doesn't sing operatic and she doesn't sing high either. Still it sounds very good and a little more poppy and very catchy. The album is like an introduction to Capri with her singing remakes of the old songs. I guess if you are a stick in the mud, you may not accept this more normal singing style but I'm easy cause it still sounds way good to me! Maybe the previous gal is getting ready to take the Nightwish job who knows cause she would be a perfect fit no doubt.

Its not bad at all. I'm curious to hear what the older stuff was like. :goes to spotify:

Edit: Holy crap what a change! Its like going from simone simmons to the girl from amaranthe. Adding to the library though for now :)

She's not bad, but what I loved most about Amberian Dawn to begin with was the operatic style vocals. It's still pretty rare to have a singer that can do that style in your band. I'm happy she's at least doing her solo stuff, from what I've heard, it's really promising. But as for Amberian Dawn, they pretty much took out the best thing they had going for them. It sounds like pretty standard female vocals now. I'll check out their new album, but my hopes will not be high.

WOOOOW! This is a real serious change in direction for AD. Capri fits this sound nicely if they stay in this mode. I do not think that she will be able to pull off stuff like "River of Tuoni". But, fortune favors the brave. This is a real gutsy move by AD, and I would love to hear the rest of the CD.

Entirely stopped listening to Nightwish when they went this route with Annette. Don't think this isn't as bad as when Annette joined Nightwish, but I would be lying if I didn't say this move was disappointing. Absolutely loved her operatic singing. Heidi is pretty much my favorite operatic metal singer, I guess along with Tarja, as she's one of the most consistent in her performances and has such a lovely color and tone to her voice, powerful but graceful, not obnoxious or annoying. But I'd rank her first, second Tarja, then Manuela, Floor, Simone (though neither of the last two do as much operatic now it seems) etc though I believe Manuela is more consistent than Tarja in her performances. Heidi would be great in Nightwish, but Floors stage presence is excellent. Guess I'm a stick in the mud.
