well, the day finally came. abrb released their album. i think this sums it up:

i was in school when their first album came out.

this new one is a bit of a let down in some ways. the writing is awesome (which is a surprise since losing one of their guitarists), but the mix is a let down. their first album was my reference "perfect" recording for a very long time, so i guess they had a high target to beat, but this doesn't sound any where near as good..

the guitars are nasal and boxy, the snare is no where near as good as the first album, and just overall.. isn't as upfront as allegiance.

anyone else heard it? thoughts?

also, i had a bet with a mate about duke nukem forever coming out before this album.. seems like i owe him £10 :|

ei thought their last album sounded like complete shit. the high end was so much ear pain and the snare did not go with it at all IMO. the mixing was great, but not the mastering.

I loved the old mix like 4 years ago, but i hate it now haha. I'm not a fan of the new mix either.

Yeah me too, first album owned compared to the new one.
And you would think after 6 years they would have changed a little more.

I have to say I think this Cd is awesome. The snare is a little weird, almost sounds like the attack time is wrong on the comp or something?
Got this CD delivered from the US with a hoody and a poster and it arrived today! At 30 I may be a little too old to put the poster on my bedroom wall...
Says on the inlay all the guitars apart from the lead was tracked by Ernie so no idea why he isn't playing with them anymore.

I completely agree with this. I never thought their last album sounded good at all. I loved the music but it the guitar tone was just annoying to listen to at times.
