New Axe-FX and S2 test mix

I've owned a PODxt, an original AXE FX and ReValver for the record. That was my point when I said none of this debate really matters much with metal like this since there is no dynamic range. Any of these guitar processors can be made to sound quite similar especially for that type of metal.

The dynamic range was the point which the POD lacks, but yeah, act like a dick and a merry fucking Christmas to you too. uke:

Edit: Every time I post a direct tone, I get complaints that "sure, yeah even a POD sounds good direct, but how does it sound in the room?" Now I clearly made a mistake since the dynamic range of a POS digicam is probably worse than a Vamp, but my point is to have the "in the room" sound. Of course people will say: "damn that's an awful sounding machine, geez". *sigh* There's simply a no win situation here, since there's no way to show all capabilities on this machine for a non believer. I'll try to stop defending the Axe-FX from now on.

You mean that axe-fx sounds similar with pod direct but it's much better when used though an amp and real cab ?

Nope. There's no comparison in my book. Where the POD is like an image of landscape, the afx IS the landscape. It's so defined you can taste the damn sounds. It looses some 3D in the mp3 conversion of course, but the way it behaves and the tweakability is worth every damn cent IMO.

What I'm saying is that people will always complain, no matter what type of clip I'll put up, and somehow they always compare it to Line6 gear, which is like comparing a 5150 to a Walkman.

And yes, the axe-fx slays with a p-amp and a 4x12.

lol! I think you're a little too in love with your gear! My entire point is that there is NO dynamic range in a metal clip like this. So it really doesn't matter what gear is being used. The AXE can't show off its dynamic range in a clip like this. How many times do I have to say it?

Btw... For the record, the landscape your AXE FX is attempting to paint is a real tube amp.

Don't worry dude, you've convinced me that the thing rules! It doesn't appeal to me, though, because that's just way too much money for what is essentially a guitar preamp - I'll stick with a head and a delay pedal in the loop for the same price! (and a Palmer loadbox if I wanna go direct)

Except it's much more then a guitar preamp, the FX alone are worth the price and equal or superior to units costing the same price or more like Eventide etc.

At the risk of sounding like a fanboi cultist, the Axe is the best single gear purchase i've ever made.

Not that in needs to be an all or nothing thing either, I still use amps, pedals and other software happily alongside and in tandem with the Axe-FX.

Nope, the tube amp landscape is only on a different location. At least when A/B'd to Engl, Marshall, Peavey and Krank amps.

I agree, and I like the true tube "landscape" more than the Axe's "location". For me, this is why I use a real tube amp live.

Couldn't have said it any better myself Metaltastic. This coming from a previous owner of an AXE FX, I just don't have any need for effects anymore, but for those that do, the AXE is a great solution.
