I know there's probably not a ton of Blackmore's Night fans on UMOS, but I do know there are a few. Has anyone got the new BN DVD yet? I picked it up the other day and spent one full night watching the bonus disc, only to find out there wasn't enough time left to watch the CONCERT portion. I saved that for last night and what a treat it was! The production, sound and audio, are flawless and the band puts on a performance that simply drags you into their mideival world of castles and dreams.
It's always nice to see artists having so much fun performing their craft. Watching Castles & Dreams I could only come away with one conclusion: Blackmore's Night really enjoys playing their music. Even the ever-stoic Blackmore can be seen laughing and teasing his bandmates (in between constant fiddling with his equipment as the show goes on).
Their songs sound much heavier live, as is usually the case when it comes to mellower bands. When they start jamming, it's hard to imagine that this isn't some form of folkish hard rock, if not heavy metal. Of course, Ritchie mixes in snippets of Deep Purple and Rainbow here and there, so that really gives it a metallic touch in parts.
This really does come highly recommended from me, especially if you're a BN fan. If you haven't heard them and want to check them out, this would be a great place to start. It has almost all their greatest songs on it, and it's really not that much more expensive than a regular CD.
