I've never cared for this band, but I can't stop spinning this new song/vid they released. Production is really cool, I'm loving that snare to death. Anyone have info on that backing effect in the main/intro riff? Just a washed out chorus?

fair play to them for doing developing their sound and that but that new song has nothing original or interesting musically to me. that "sound" has been done by loads of bands already.

Sounds like they're trying to go for the whole Lostprophets pop/rock style thing. Nothing wrong with a band changing their sound over time, but Oli just doesn't have a good enough vocal to carry this kind of music. These guys peaked at Suicide Season and nothing since has come close to touching it imo.

There were some good songs on There Is A Hell and Sempiternal but overall I think they are in decline, I just can't see Oli pulling this song off live. RIP Breakdowns.

Tbh I like them better as a pop metal band because I don't really think they ever had the technical chops to pull it off the other way.

I thought Sempiternal was amazing, the whole album was on repeat for a while, me and my friends really connected w it. This, however, is eh to me.
