How about a New catagory on the forum called:

New Releases for the Month of May, And every month change it...to June & so on.( on what you will be stocking)

Bob:

Its actually not a bad idea and something I've thought about instead of the thread I've been using the past few months.

I haven't mentioned it at all but we will be launching a brand new Laser's Edge website in the upcoming weeks. Its been in development for a year and I'm just about at the point where the developers hand it over to me to try to break it. Every aspect of the new site is different. Its visually stunning and will be much more user friendly but I warn you - your OCD will kick in when you see it. As part of the changeover we are going to become much more active with email blasts updating customers as to new releases. Its an aspect of our business that has been sorely lacking over the years and its time I finally addressed it.

Another thing...I'm always amazed at how few people check the new arrivals section of the website and just rely on the homepage. A lot of great titles make it into our inventory but don't hit the front of the store. We have close to 9,000 titles in our database. We can't put them all on the front of the site. The new arrival section is listed with the most recent addition at the top and it works backwards chronologically. You should make it a habit of checking out what's new from this section.

Its very possible I might add a sticky thread here on the forum but I think the best thing is to make sure you are on our email list once the website changes over. Its quite possible that there will be exclusive special offers made available to people on the list.

I like the sound of all that, Ken. :D I'll definitely get onto the email list.

Quick question about the new site: will there be a clearer indication of when items are out of stock? One issue I've had a fee times over the years is ordering something, then finding out after I've placed the order that its out of stock. If an item is still showing on a page, its easy to be fooled by this until its gone after the order is placed and then you find out it's not there.

The problem is until now we have not tracked inventory on the site because we would sell at festivals. (looks like that will end this year). So if we have 10 copies of the new It Bites in stock and we sell 11 over a weekend someone is taking a hit.

It also gets more complicated because the software cleans out the shopping carts every 24 hours. If you happen to have an item in your cart that goes out of stock before you check out, the software still lets you purchase it.

Not sure how the new software will handle it. The developers are turning the site over to me next week so I can kick the tires and try to break it.
