new cover song of Jester Script Transfigured

Sounds good dude, you need some fuckin drums man! Use like a guitar pro file and record the drum track, it'll give the song more of a sound, instead of just a kinda droning on feeling.

However, your acoustic work was pretty spiffy, thumbs up.

Yeah, Drums! think about it when you release it again.

As for the guitar sound, it needs some more "heaviness", probably if you added more meds and bass in the Eq... ;)

I like your accoustics too, did you use a folk guitar? or just clean electric?

For the 1st part of the solo: harmonising dude! That's the In Flames sound: harmonising, polyphonic guitars. :)

I suppose it took you some time to get to that result, so: Great job! :worship:

yeah the harmonies were a BITCH to do, as I had to be exactly on-time with the other guitar without a drum track to keep me on time. It's all about mental timing... anyway I dunno if I can re-record it as I don't have a guitar pro file because I don't have guitar pro. The acoustic bits were done on a regular 6-string detuned acoustic as In Flames did it except for the bit in the song. The production (adding the reverb/equalizer) were done in Cool Edit Pro v.2 in my home studio when I pieced the song together. It was kinda hard to get the EQ settings to cooperate with me because I need a better mic. Mine wasn't good really for picking up bass tones and it would usually offset things and make the sound too heavy, so I had to immediately lower that to make it acceptable. Plus, multitracking is a tiny bit unstable when you have high-volume files recorded over each other. I think the most I had going at one time in the song was 6 parts during the octaving part at 3:23. I had a distortion guitar playing rythm power chords, one guitar doing the high part, one doing the low, one doing the 3rds, and a bass line. It took me a good 3 days to record every part and lay all the tracks down, so thanks big time for liking it! :) It was my personal goal to make a totally complete (minus drums) In Flames cover song of a really hard song.

What was even harder than recording it was transcribing the tabs down by ear for guitar and bass, so that took me a few days of listening to that track over n over again. Thanks again! :) still open for opinions if anyone wants to share, because I've gotten some negative replies too. Constructive Criticism would help if anyone wants to offer me some. :)

ouch... it hurts just thinking about retracking it becauz it took so long, but a new In Flames cover song may be in the works. Now that I have GP (thanks big time Final_Vision :)), I can probably find the drum tracks for other songs. I've already done full covers of Artifacts of The Black Rain, Only For The Weak, Pinball Map, Pallar Anders Visa, and a few other various acoustic bits that they did like on Moonshield and Acoustic Medley. I'm thinking of doing a full cover of Moonshield once I get down all the tabs. :) anyway Merry Xmas everybody, that song up there is my gift to all u die hard IF fanatics.

(thanks again Final Vision)

Heh, my brother is trying to get Moonshield down on his acoustic....he's not close

so now he's playing the bass on clayman

yea Artifacts is one of the easier IF songs out there to cover. Simple, straightforward, and no major difficult solos. I will start using Guitar Pro on some of my stuff from now on. And BTW my version of Artifacts isn't available for download because the site I put my mp3's on only allows me 3 mp3 slots, so I filled those with two of my own songs and the cover of Jester Script Transfigured.
