New Darkest Hour on MySpace

Man, they've been hyping this album up like CRAZY, and the webisodes got me super pumped...but this mix SUCKS compared to Undoing Ruin...what the hell happened?

From the MySpace shit compression, I think it sounds great, actually. I think Devin did an awesome job.

I thought maybe it was the MySpace compression, but then when you listen to the songs off Undoing Ruin on MySpace, I thought it sounded much better than the new song...but thats just me

Undoing Ruin sounds a bit wider, to me, but I hate the snare and kick on that album. The whole thing doesn't sound as smooth as the new one, to my ears, either.

I think Undoing Ruin had 4 rhythm guitars as well, this one seems to only have two....or on this album the guitar parts are each panned to one side, not like on Undoing Ruin where they'd have each guitar part hard panned...

But this one does sound a little smoother

undoing ruin was awesome, but this has nothing on it

edit: going through the cd again, i noticed that the kick sample gets really annoying, especially on double bass parts

Wow... to each his own. I love Dev's productions - they're the very definition of 'vibe.'

I think it sounds a lot better than their previous records. Really good song too. This time the vocals don't sound annoying either . I've always hated darkest hour and to me they've always sounded like the most unoriginal gothenburg style rip off ever, so this really surprised me.

Production is fine just the song itself is pants boring boring pants with lame singing ah maybe it will grow on me but first impression is not good.

I'd have to say I like Undoing Ruin's production better, too, even though I do agree that the kick and snare are garbage on that album. Definitely not knocking Devy, though. I'm constantly in love with his production on the Misery Signal album.
