new Deep Purple = 10/10?

I'm there. You know, I really appreciate reviews like this. There are a lot musicians doing their best (or at least equal to their best) right now. It's much too easy to do the, "In the good 'ol days..." thing. Way too easy. I think, for instance, that Brave New World was quite simply one of Maiden's best albums. I think the new Saxon records hold up to the old-school classics. And I think Gillan was and is one of great singers in rock. Probably my favorite. I fully believe that Deep Purple is capable of making their best record right now. There are too many naysayers in this world. I will buy this without first hearing a bit of it. Things change, mutate, become different, it's true. But it is nonsense to accuse a band of losing it simply for having aged a bit, and for having (gasp!) discovered new technologies and production techniques. Old-school does not automatically = best! Incidentally, I believe it was you that convinced me to buy Bananas and I've never been sorry I followed that advice.

I haven't heard the latest DP outputs but this review sounds interesting to say the least!
They're coming over here in January, I haven't decided whether I should catch the gig since the tickets are very pricey (44 € / 53 $).

I have mixed feelings. I do love "Bananas" and I consider it the best DP album since HOBL, I'm expecting following Don Airey words that ROTD is going to be even better or at least heavier.

But now I see Popoff giving the album a 10 and I have nothing but contempt for Popoff reviews, I disagree with him 90-something % of the time, so if he likes it...I'm shivering o_O

Finally all come to the same point, the only review that matters to me will be mine :D. Considering I'm a long time fan of DP most probably I'll end buying the slab and taking my chances.

Time will tell.

P.S. Time has come :tickled: , I just downloaded the album I'll review it later.
