New Discovery...

I suppose this could have come under 'Recommend obscure Prog Bands' but I decided I wanted a thread all to myself, and this music really deserves it...

Progressive metal somewhat in the vein of ' V The New Mythology Suite', so if you liked that album I'd check this out, it has a similar vibe and I love what I've heard so far.

Anyway I found these guys whilst surfing around, killing time, and I came across a band that included two names I was familiar with: Marcel Coenen (shredder extraordinaire) and Hubi Miesel (amazing vocalist).

The band is named after it's founder Hubi Meisel and after listening to a few samples I was just blown away, really quality stuff, such wonderful guitars and keyboards and It took me about 15 seconds to get on Amazon and buy this album despite my card being in the red.

I listened to the first two album samples Kailash and EmOcean, it all sounded good but I was simply stunned by the song 'Lost in the Waters of Sargasso', seriously people, LISTEN TO THIS SONG for the love of god!!

You are the people who make this business so do your job and put your expert and refined ears to it, lemme know what you think and don't forget 'Lost in the Waters of Sargasso!' Heard it here first.

Cheers.

I had a feeling it would be a 'love it or hate it' affair.

True metal heads will probably hate it, but if you like more colour with your crunch I think this is for you. I'm one who prefers 'V-New Mythology' over the 'Odyssey'.

This one most certainly isn't for those well versed in Pantera or Sepultura and such so be warned.

Both Hubi Meisel albums (EmoOcean, Kailash) are written by keyboard player "Vivien Lalu". He also has his own project called "Lalu - Oniric Metal". I would give you a weblink but his site is currently being rebuild. Also the line up for these albums are pretty much praised in the progressive scene so if you don't know them, it is time now. I call them "The all stars" :)

Marcel Coenen ("guitars". Sun Caged, Lemur Voice) http://www.marcelcoenen.com/

Daniel Flores ("drums". Mind's Eye, and many many recordings, productions. He is the hardest working man in all the musicians who play progressive stuff. So you should know him. Just look at his projects list: http://www.roundrec.com/daniel.html

Johan Neimann ("bass". Mind's Eye, Therion)

Vivien Lalu ("keys". Lalu, Shadrane)

Hubi Meisel ("vocals". Actually i don't like his voice, but the music in his albums is so good. Hubi makes the vocal melodies and writes the lyrics. The music is made by Vivien Lalu.)

I actually found it to be not creative enough. I am not just a straight-out metal head. I like really technical stuff with creativity. Jazz/Fusion, classical and prog metal/rock are what I like. V is my fave album of all time, but I found this song to be nothing like it. It's all opinion of course :)
