New drumm toy - KickPort

Our drummer bought to fatten up his 20" bassdrum a bit. We use it only for rehearsals and not for recording... You do get a little more of "the boom"^^

Actually, i was just thinking that for recording it might in fact be useful. Just high pass the fuck out the thing at 40hz and enjoy having a nice tight 70hz attack without the usual 70hz boom

A friend of mine gave a kickport. I tested in a recording but didn't have much time to evaluate yet. It sounds very nice, but I don't see it fitting in many scenarios, specially metal.

Yeah but since we replace the kickdrum with a sample most of the time we haven´t used it for recording yet.

I was shocked by the iPhone as a fucking spectral analyzer. Gave me a "these guys are a bunch of newbies" vibe even though I don't know much about the iPhone's capabilities in this area but it sure as hell does not feel serious when it's lying on the fucking floor too.

It's really quite accurate, I use it all the time to help with ringing out monitor wedges

I've been using one of these for a while, I like it :headbang:

I mainly use a 20" kick, but I also have one in my 24 and I don't think it made it overly boomy. Kinda reminds me of the kick on the self-titled Deftones album... probably wouldn't work for really fast stuff

I got given one from a friend who got one as a demo.

Pretty cool.. not recorded it yet though!
