I was able to check out this album for a review prior to its release this Friday. It's a good followup to Slania. There's one song I keep going back to and playing over and over. Anyway, here is my review of the album: http://www.metalasylum.net/reviews/2010/mr10028.php.

The entire album is available to listen to on their myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/eluveitie). Would like to know what y'all think of it !

Can't wait to get this, IMO all their stuff is great, even the acoustic album didn't leave my car for a month. Would prefer to hear it on disc though then via MP3 but what I have heard I like, Thousandfold is a cool single too.

Never paid much attention to this band. Always dismissed them out of hand as part of this strange, semi-popular trend of Pagan Metal. Spun up the new disc twice to say, and found it quite enjoyable. Reminds me of Clayman era In Flames, with Pagan instrumentation added in for flavoring.

my love of music is far-reaching...but right with metal has always been celtic. and this is an amazing blend of the two...as have all their albums been. love this band.

for my personal tastes, they would be my absolute ideal band if they had a clean vocalist. but i still listen to alot of this vocal style so its all good.

You should try their Slania album. Good stuff. I won't touch that acoustic album as what I heard was very painful. To be honest though, I'm afraid to listen to anything new from them as I thought the best part of the band were the brothers who quit after the first Paganfest tour. I felt they made Eluviette's performance on that tour.

I second that, one of my favorites from this genre.

Absolutely agree. Seeing them now is like seeing an entirely different band. The focus on the live show is now split mainly by the two young ladies, they have the best stage presence from that band now.

That's exactly how I felt at first. Then I happened to catch them live opening one of those Paganfest tours and was blown away. Good stuff. And I don't mind that half the time they sound like they're ripping off Dark Tranquillity :)

Here's my official review :)

How many times had a band put out several strong releases in a row, building anticipating for the next release to a high level, only to wind up disappointing? "Everything Remains as it Never Was" has exceeded my high expectations. The best production ever (IMO) on a folk metal album is apparent from the get go. Do not listen to this album over your PC because the nuances are lost. The flutes ring out, the guitars are heavy as hell and the drum sound is really deep, you can hear each tom ring out individually. The death vocals are very powerful, and the female vocals come in at just the right moments. The songwriting is catchy yet varied enough (with the right touch of wankery) to hold up to multiple listens. They don't fall into the pit of extending 3 minute songs to 5 minutes just because they can. The album is clearly more accessible but doesn't lose its appeal to the true metal head. Eluveitie have perfected the art of melody and heaviness in the true spirit of classic metal and melodic death metal with all the varying accoutrements that folk metal provides, transporting you to a world where the ancient Celts still live and breathe, and headbanging and folk dancing are the preferred pastimes :)

Complaints: Middle of the album starts to sound a little samey. Slightly more simplistic song structures, I miss the old dense Eluveitie sound at times. I'm still not quite sure how to pronounce "Eluveitie."

The bonus DVD, in the digipack, is well worth getting. Over an hour long, an in depth discussion about the lyrics with a historian, studio recording, the video, making of, etc. Not just band members running around naked and drunk ;)
