I just pulled the trigger on a new guitar for studio and recording use  .

It is a Gibson Les Paul Studio in worn brown. Pickups should be 2 Burstbucker Pro.

Should arrive within the next days. Price was too cheap to refuse :goggly:

Do any other members own or have experience with this guitar? Still not sure if a 498T equipped Les Paul Studio at the bridge position would have been a better option. But if the guitar will not meet my expectations i still have a return option.

Les Pauls can be pretty hit or miss, I've heard this exact guitar sound both great and "meh." I personally prefer the Burstbuckers to the 490/498 combo.

These guitars also sound a bit darker than a traditional Les Paul on account of the lack of a maple top, which can be good or bad depending on the rest of your setup.

Overall, you could definitely do much worse!

I second Corey's opinion, that's why I parted with all my Gibsons, I just didn't wanna support a brand with suck a shit quality control and non-consistency...
I've had MANY Gibsons, some of them AWESOME, some of them worse than a fucking 200€ Stagg Guitar (I've had for example 2 LP Classics from the same year, serial number was just a few digits apart...one sounded great, the other one shite.
Fuck Gibson

..burtsbuckers are better than the 498...

It's kinda sad that you have to meticulously sift through instruments with such a price tag to not get a lemon. I mean, you should do that anyway when buying an instrument, but you could buy a Caparison or ESP from anywhere in the world and be sure to become a highest quality instrument.

That being said: If you take the time and effort to do that, you will be rewarded as they still put out ace instruments. You just have to find them. Love my Melody Maker but I made sure to make a trip to Thomann back then to hand-select the instrument.
