HANOI ROCKS frontman Michael Monroe has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"Not to get anymore bummed out than everyone already is — I won't say anything other than our sincere condolences to everyone who's lost anyone near and dear in The Asian disaster...

"We're just glad we're still here. Actually better than ever! You just might not know it from looking at this web site...yet.

"Anyways...oh yeh, yeh — as far as Stevie Klasson [guitar] is concerned, we were only kidding. The rumours were actually true: CONNY BLOOM IS IN FACT OUR NEW GUITAR PLAYER! (It was a long joke, but it worked!). (Drumfill!!!)

"While you may have been on vacation, we’ve been working overtime. We've just about finished the fresh new HANOI ROCKS album entitled 'Another Hostile Takeover' and I think it's a bit of a masterpiece. But then again what else would ya expect? (he says humbly) Unfortunately, it won't be released until next April due to 'simultaneous release' clauses in our record deals around the world.... I would think there'd be a single or an EP out way before then, though.

"So what next? Well, hey, at least I've broken the silence here, so hopefully you guys won't have to be guessing, wondering or assuming so much anymore.

"I dunno about you, but... We're gonna start rehearsing and getting ready to rock like fuck on the road in 2005! That's what’s next!

"Be sure not to miss HANOI ROCKS LIVE when we're in your part of the world . And as soon as you can, check out the new record — it's really choice!"

Pretty cool album title. I have never seen these guys but I heard they are doing some dates in America with Ian Hunter. Hopefully they can embrak on a tour of their own or join one of the summer hair band packages. I look foward to the new album.

I haven't heard their last record. Something about Monroe bugs me. He's not all that & he's average at best. I have to say that his solo record, that came out in the late 80's was horrible. I do like Hanoi's Two Steps from the Move, to me that's the most accessible record, their others didn't quite hit the spot. I do have to check out their last record, people have been raving about it & I haven't heard a lick off it.
Greeno what did you think of other Hanoi related projects? Like Jet Boy? Or how about
Shooting Gallery?

I was a late comer to Hanoi Rocks but I've grown to really like them. Their earliest stuff is kinda wimpy but the got better and better with each release.

As for Monroe's solo album (Not Fakin' It) I loved that thing!! That's what got me looking into the Hanoi releases.

Sixx - it sounds like you are in a Rock N Roll mood so I would suggest you check out their last album (12 Shots On The Rocks). It's a GREAT disc!

As for the post Hanoi bands, There's been a ton of them but none have equalled Hanoi. My favorite was The Cherry Bombz (Andy with a female singer)... other bands are=

Suicide Twins
Fallen Angels
Jetboy (they were not bad, nothing great though)
Demolition 23
Jerusalem Slim
Shooting Gallery (not really heard much of them Sixx)

and more I'm sure I forgot.

Hey how was that Jerusalem Slim project? That had Steve Stevens playing guitar right?
That sounded interesting, but they never put out a record in the states...

It's ok but nothing to get excited about... sounds like it would be better than it really was. A friend of mine paid import price for a copy (Jap) but I think I gave him 5 bucks for it about a year later.

I would like to hear some more Demolition 23 myself. I've only heard a couple live tracks but they sounded interesting. That was another Jap only thing Monroe did (like Jerusalem Slim).

I got fucked a while back when I picked up Manic Eden. Ever heard of them?
More or less Whitesnake with the singer of Little Ceasar...
What a pile of shit that one was. Bland, boring & the most "un"rock record I have ever heard! I wound up selling the thing for more than I bought it for to a Whitesnake collector... I was happy to part with that turd...
