New Hardware from Steinberg

Two things that came to my mind when I saw that:

1) How much is it gonna cost?
2) Dunno if it's only a good thing to have hardware that's so focused an a single platform.

Actually, I think it'll work with any DAW - from the brochure: "Includes ASIO and CoreAudio drivers as well as additional external software mixer and plug-in editors for using with 3rd party audio software." Anyone have any idea what the price is gonna be? I'm guessing $600-$700 US

Its actually more than that, but less than a 003.

Street price for the MR16csx will likely be about $1200 and the MR16x $999
something like that.

A bargain I tells ya.

These are available now.
Prices (Europe): € 375 (CC121), € 759 (MR816 X) & € 1,145 (MR816 CSX).

Does anybody else feel like they dropped the price for Cubase 4 lately? (It's only € 548 now, Cubase Studio is € 344.)

fireface 800 or the tc electronics 48 still seem like a better deal because of the expansions for them

still looking for somethign comparable to the hd system without spending 15000

56 and 48 channels total on the rme and tc , more than one digital input especially adat inputs and outputs ...............the ability to use 2 or more interfaces for expansion

edit

i just watched the video you can stack up to 3 of the units so that would be 56 channels total IO

not bad i might be interested in this for my mobile rig replacing the 3 firepods.

pretty kool if it works with other daw's besides cubase, im not a fan of the layout at all coming from protools and audition.

here a video of some of the features http://www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=1168&L=1

Looks nice but I think I 'll stick to my 10$ keyboard, my second-hand emu 1616m and its powerful software mixer.

hotkeys :headbang:

What are your thoughts on the Interface shootout posted on Steinberg's site?
http://www.steinberg.net/fileadmin/redaktion/zip/interface_comparison.zip

I listened to the files in my daw (all tracks muted except the original file and then I click solo on a particular interface track so the music continues uninterupted) and really tried to focus on the differences. I also ran the original file through 2 inputs of my interface. Some of the interfaces seem to narrow the stereo image a little and also suck some higs and mids away. However, the more I listened to the files the more I realised there's at least a thousand things that can affect the sound you record and/or the sound you hear and some of them can be really cheap (DIY broadband absorbers for example) .

i'd be all over that steinberg control surface IF IT HAD MORE THAN ONE FUCKING FADER

why do companies keep doing this!?!?!?!?
