I know this is not IF board but if you have heard the new album then what are your thoughts??

IMO There are a few good songs but over all it is a BIG dissapointment ......

Well i wouldnt feel comfortable posting the link here b/c some people might not appercaite it to much , it would be exploiting material that has not even been offered to the public ( then how the fuck did i get it  , but you know what i meen ) ...

but if u want the link e-mail me at emperor_tide@yahoo.com

Holy shit phyre. I'm so fuckin depressed now......looks like I'm only buyin one cd on September 3rd now...

And poet....mind sendin that link my way? I think I'd rather kill myself while listening to the music.

IF isn't even my favorite band....

I got the whole album ( yes yes trow your flames at big mean ol' pirate misanthrope i dont care i have asbestos suit ) And i can tell you a few things.

There are certainly several nu metal elements, the most noticeable ones being the tunning and the rhythm guitars ( they tune to fucking A now and the is a lot of slipknotish rhythms on the rhythmic guitar ). Also on the song Dawn of a new day one can hear screams that sound like a carbon copy of linkin park ( in fact you could put the linkin park there so he sings them and you wouldnt notice, is THAT similiar, hell is even the same vocal melody present in a linkin park song )

Another thing to mention is that Friden, for better or ( most likely ) for worst uses way more clean vocals this time around ( ALOT more ) and honestly it still sounds like a horrible whining guy most of the time but not all the time, the most notable exeption being Metaphor wich is an acoustic sound that is solid and well executed, with the only minor detail of horrible country ( american country ) style violin work. If you let the violins get to you it really sounds like a country/alternative song rejecet hybrid.

Overall the album circles around typical inflames guitar melodies and harmonies on top of this new elements with some expetions on certain songs wich sound more "comercial" if you want.

The atempt at the use of electronic is a very respectable one, and althought no where as near well implemented as DT's recent atempts at including electronic elements, they are usually solid enough and fit the songs nicely to the point they are not really a problem to me and i suspect it wont be to some people.

In depth coments l8r ( if im requested to )

I have the whole thing also, admitedly I've never been a huge In Flames fan, in fact I didn't like anything by them after The Jester Race (yes yes, call me narrow minded idiot and whatnot, see if I care) but hell, this one fullfilled all my expectations.
I expected it to suck and I was right. It really really blows.
I won't explain why right now as I'm writting a full review of Reroute to remain and The Jester Race for next month's reviews at http://www.metal-rules.com but I can tell it will be an extreme opposites-like set of reviews...

My expectations are that it will suck enormously. Therefore, it will not disappoint me either way.
Same here, I was reading comments on their site saying that there would be some more aggressive songs on the album, those comments can go out the window too now. After reading all the comments here I am back at what I expected of it innitially (nutt'n), if it makes Clayman sound good how bad can it possibly be... Glad Damage Done is gonna come out this weekend.

everyone's saying "buy Damage Done instead of RtoR"

when a couple years ago it was "get Colony instead of Projector!"

i still have yet to hear the new IF album.. but from the talk of clean vocals, I'm kinda scared. i LOVE clean vox in metal, the Mikaels from Opeth and DT do them wonderfully.. but Anders, i got nothin' against the guy... but his voice just stinks :puke:

as much as i think the new album sucks i kinda feel sorry for IF. have their fans have abandoned them now and whenever they play a song off their new record they'll probably get booed

Misanthrope... Don't you think "Metaphor" sounds like a mixture of Red Hot Chili Peppers and country? Not a trace of metal in it at least, that's for sure. And annoyingly whiny vocals by Friden.

Now that you mention it yea i do. I did noticed the country thing but i never made that ret hot chili peppers connection, but it is true

More like their fans have abandoned so they'll only play with slipknot and the numetal kids there will love them and their fanbase will hate them further.

I dont know what to think , it is too early to really say anything..

IF is a really good band IMO they made a album different from their old styles...The only problem is it has ''nu-metal'' taste to it..

I hope they did not to it for the money or for more fans ....
But for now iam going to be very open minded about this...

Even though personally i dont like the album...

I can be very open minded but if inflames comes to my city with Slipknot and Mushroomhead im just not gonna put up with half the fucking city of idiots, i rather regret didnt saw inflames live than going through that.

i've heard it, and i must say imo it's.... nice. nothing to write home about, and crammed full of fillers besides, but all in all it's quite nice. it has its highs and lows: some of the melodies are at least a bit varied and different from the production if got us used to, while other tunes are plain and simply boring.
the "nu-metal" influences everybody is so keen to frown on are more or less ok in my book: i don't listen to nu-metal because it's poorly played and excruciatingly dull, but that doesn't mean a band can't integrate elements of it in some songs without the result making me :puke:
i also think "metaphor" is the best track in the album and perhaps the single most outstanding if song since whoracle was released. besides, you have to give it to the guys that they tried to do something different and sort of a shot in the dark. i'd rather hear them change every time than listen to the same old record over and over. i'm no big in flames fan, but "system", "trigger", "egonomic" and "metaphor" will get some airplay on my stereo. :)

rahvin.

Im not gonna make a big deal, but I generally think its a very good album, Its a very nice change of pace ill tell you that much. I too am a fan of Metaphor lol, its one of those mellow kick back and just kinda drift songs. Who really cares who they directed it at, either like it or ya dont. A lot of songs just give me that great In Flames feel ive come to love, Dismiss the Cynic and Dark Signs are obvious, as is Minus. As well as the new style songs, System is one of my favorites, the ending I personally think is brilliant coming to a killer climax with almost black metal style screeching and than dropping off so suddenly with "you...". I personally like it and ill purchase it when it comes out on the 3rd of September!
