New In Flames single

I like both songs equally. The similarities don't surprise me considering Niclas Engelin is in both bands. Sounds like the new In Flames song has a bit of a Reroute To Remain vibe which is fine with me.

How do you win??????????????

Well... I think the song I posted is better.

Don't know why, but don't really care for IF's new single. The last album of theirs that I enjoyed thoroughly was Reroute to Remain. Will I listen to the new one? Eh, why not... but I can guarantee it won't be a blind purchase.

I found myself not hating it, actually. And it was thankfully short and not too repetitive. I bet if I listen to it enough, it'd have me humming the chorus, a-la recent Soilwork material.

It's kind of sad that "not hating it" seems to be about as much as we can hope for from this band. I'm not pining for the old days or anything, but the bar has definitely been lowered.

The first thing I thought when I listened to it was that it reminded me of newer Soilwork. Unfortunately, that would mean it is a CD I would listen to a few times & then it would not leave the shelf.

This new song's not hitting me the way Come Clarity's first single Take This Life did. It'll be interesting to see if unlike this new album or not. I seem to enjoy every other In Flames album since Reroute To Remain.

Eh...it's a little to Soundtrack to Your Escapey. I was hoping they'd stay more Come Clarity and Sense of Purposey, because those albums were very good.

And I agree with rockbox, Take This Life is an amazing single.

Ha! That's what I wasn't sure of, if you were saying Pinball Map was BETTER or WORSE than that song. Reason being is that so many people think CLAYMAN was the beginning of the end.

 I hear you. Funny thing is that Reroute to Remain is still one of my favorites, if not the favorite.

Most people thought Reroute To Remain was the beginning to the end. Yeah, Clayman raised eyebrows, but it was passable "classic" In Flames.

I think Reroute is the last decent album, but agree with the consensus that it is the 'beginning of the end'. Their songs always had some verse/chorus/verse/chorus/solo/chorus sensibilities, but Reroute was where they really kicked the mass-appeal catchiness into high gear.

I'm one of the few who actually like just about everything they put out,
yeah, its not Colony/Whoracle,but the songwriting IMO is still top notch, and they don't get stale writing the same style

i like this a lot

To me, Clayman was definitely passable, and was indeed the beginning of the end, but with Reroute they just took their path to the end from a completely different direction than indicated by Clayman!
