New Keep of Kalessin - Reptilian

Agreed, this album is a fucking shitload better than Kolossus. So many epic tracks on this album, and I like the fact that they've added some epic clean vocals to some of there songs.

Uh, black metal has never been about riffs, you know something is wrong about a black metal album when people rave about the riffs. In any case my initial impression is that the new Keep of Kalessin is certainly vastly superior to Kolossus, but not as good as Armada.

uh this isn't a traditional black metal album so who gives a shit what it's 'about'? the point is that the album has a plethora of ass kicking guitar riffs and is fun to listen to for that reason (and not that reason alone).

I also fucking love it, its so much more diverse then Armada and Kolossus. And songs like "Leaving the Mortal Flesh", "Dragon Iconography", "Judgment" and the 14min long "Reptilian Majesty" makes this album excellent. I think this album is mixing lots of genres, everything from thrash metal to power metal. The only bad thing about the album is "The DragonTower", rest is amazing.

I listened to a couple Myspace tracks. Pretty meh, though I do note some riffs akin to their first two, i.e. the only listenable, albums.

My point is that it's freaking annoying when an album has some great riffs going, then suddenly some crappy cheesy symphonic part ruins everything. That's the feeling I get when I listen to Kolossus, and I am getting the same feeling from the new album too.

Listened to a few tracks, sounds fucking epic. "Judgment" is extremely epic as well as "Awakening." I actually like how they have good riffs plus a plethora of epic lines. I need to listen to the rest of the album.
