Has anyone heard of new albums or north american/world tours from some older bands? I've recently seen rush, Boston, acdc, and I will be seeing motley crüe(missed a priest/dio sabbath concert : { ), but any word on bands like accept, manowar, kiss, scorpions, ozzy, etc.

There are a good number of 70s/80s bands still touring. Sammy Hagar, Skid Row, Great White, Nugent, and many, many others (all of which have released albums in the past 1-2 years or are about to release new material). ALso, not sure if you're a fan, but Armored Saint is now playing festivals and is recording a new album.

In terms of the bands mentioned:
Accept: From what I know, Udo still tours, Hoffman still does things but Accept is "finished".
Kiss: They still tour and Paul put out a solo album 2 years ago, which was quite good. I seriously doubt they'll release another album - which is sad considering "Nothing Can Keep Me From You" will be the last piece of original music we're likely to hear from these guys.
Manowar: I'm not certain, but I think they're still together. They release an album about a year or two ago.
Scorpions: Released a fantastic album last year called Humanity and still continue to tour.
Ozzy: Seems to be in Limbo-land at the moment but he released Black Rain last year, which was pretty mediocre. To my understanding, he really doesn't tour much outside of the odd Ozzfest show.

I'm not all that up to date on Accept or Manowar, and someone here is more than welcome to correct any inaccuracies.

Udo and Hoffmann aren´t exactly the best of friends. After the 2006 re-reunion tour they talked a lot of shit from each other, specially the Wolf. But with Accept you can´t say "never say never". I´m sure there will be a next festivals tour, maybe in 2010 or 2011.

What I didn´t understand is why Stefan Kaufmann didn´t take part from 2006 tour. He can´t play drums but he´s U.D.O. guitar player. Without Fischer he could have filled the shoes. I asked Udo in an interview and he told me that it was because Hoffmann didn´t want him like guitar mate :zombie:.

In any case, Hoffmann could say or do whatever he wants. The Wolf is a genius :worship:.

THRESHOLD OF A DREAM artist: PRAYING MANTIS
INTO THE LABYRINTH artist: SAXON

To be released in 2009.

it pisses me off how bands like accept, manowar, and the scorps don't come to the states often. I want to see these guys:cry:

manowar releases a new album every 3-4 years. they just released one last year

scorpions also release an album every few years and just released a great album.

kiss has finally releases a statement saying they are working on an a new album of original material

twisted sister is finally making a brand new album of original material

boston does a new album about every 6 years

what about van halen, styx, foreigner and the allman brothers? those bands haven't had a new studio album in awhile

When? I've heard nothing about this.

Edit: From what I could find, Stanley said in an interview he'd like to do another album...

Kiss have revealed they might be heading back to the studio soon to work on new tracks - despite previously saying they were concentrating on touring old material.

The band, who have been going round the globe for the past year playing hits, will be heading out to play shows in Europe and America soon - but haven't ruled out settling down to work on a new album.

Speaking to Classicrockmagazine.com lead singer Paul Stanley said: "There might even be a new Kiss album at some point. I have been ambivalent to the idea in the past but I'm much more open to it now.

"I thought that I'd be content for Kiss to remain a heritage act," he added, "just playing our greatest hits – 'Detroit Rock City' and all that. But the new Kiss line-up with Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer is proving to be so good, so strong in spirit, it would interesting to see how we perform in the studio."

"If we were to go into the studio the intention would be to make a Kiss album in the style of our '70s recordings. A classic Kiss album, unmistakably," Stanley concluded.

Thanks keep the updates comming any bands from the era...sure that more then just me would benefit from the info

Ah, so basically what Paul said - we're working on some new stuff, but who knows if there'll be an album.

Personally, I really hope so. Psycho Circus had some real gems on it - despite keeping up with the Kiss tradition of not having Frehley and Criss perform on it. Stanley's new solo album was pretty good, so it gives me faith they can turn out a good album.

but before gene always said no to a new album, so i have a feeling one is coming out

I saw on that metal show that ace is actully making a new album/tour thanks to eddy trunk

supposedly. its called "pain in the neck" but ace has been saying for 15 years he has a new album coming out this spring so don't hold your breath

Scorpions to go back in the studio soon, so far I only know of a tour in Russia to commence sometime in the spring.

Triumph is set for a US tour early summer if all goes well.

Gene realised there is still some money to make off of a new KISS record, the only motivation for the new album. IM wondering if KISS will actually play on this new record instead of hiring studio musicians like they have done many times before .

why hire studio musicians now when half of kiss is studio musicians?

Is Tony O'Hora still in Praying Mantis? I love his 2005 solo album (music by Magnus Karlsson) but it seems like he's fallen off the face of the Earth since. Haven't heard his PM albums yet (or any earlier stuff actually) but I'm working on it.

On the topic at hand:
Magnum - Into The Valley Of The Moon King (cool title!) will be out June 15th.

What, new Praying Mantis? Looking forward to that if it's true. Nothing on the site about it. 'The Journey Goes On' seemed like a misstep, so...

The main problem with TJGO is that followed a great album as is NTH and that the internal problems (both personal and in the band) didn't allowed the Troy brothers to gel a better album (still have many good songs). Afterwards the departure of long time member Dennis Stratton (ex-Iron Maiden) also take a toll in the band.
Frankly I'm amazed they continued with a new-line up and decided to record a new album. I'm eagerly awaiting it.

The band are currently recording the new studio album which will be released around February/March 2009 under the Frontiers label under a new worldwide deal.
The album is being recorded at Muse studios in Atlanta , Georgia USA with producer/ engineer Andy Reilly.

The members are:
Tino Troy Guitars / Backing vocals
Chris Troy Bass Guitar / Backing vocals
Benjy Reid Drums and Percussion
Andy Burgess Guitars / Backing vocals
Mike Freeland Lead vocals

I got the name of the album from a Spanish news website but maybe it can be wrong. The truth is that a new album is on the making.
