oh come on...there's only one release even worth buying - GORGOROTH 'TWILIGHT OF THE IDOLS'
my reason is thus:
1. its fucking Gorgoroth
2. i haven't heard it
3. the rest of the listed releases sound like they are going to be real toss
4. I have never heard of 2/3rds of the bands mentioned, so why bother?
5. IT'S GORGOROTH!!!!!!!!!!!

me again.

for those that disagree:
come on...

Neil Turbin
SKid Row
Gamma Ray
Paul Dianno
UDO

honestly, would you buy a new release by any of these has-beens?
here's how it works for those that don't know:
bloke sings for a band
band become successful and make records
afore-mentioned bloke leaves said band to pursue a solo careeer
it flops
one of two things happen - either (a) the singer tries to reinvent himself, or (b) the band tries to do the same but with a different singer.

inspect the above list - do the math.

end result is 99% the same - it never works

how many people bought the Belladonna CDs thinking they would get Indians 2?

how many people thought Fight would be the ressurection of JPriest?

who thought Machine Head would be Vio-Lence Part Deux? (ok; i threw that one in for fun - and to annoy the fuck out of everyone)

i applaud the guy who posted the list - very thorough. but some of that shit is so unnecessary. even if you got commission on every CD of an artist you list, when the band play, the fans won't care about the new record - they want the old shit.

Paul Dianno might bring out an awesome disc based soley on its own merits, but if you went to a show i guaran-damn-tee that you would be screaming for him to do Iron Maiden covers. i would. I would love to hear Prowler, Sanctuary or Remember Tomorrow.

bottom line is this (and i am under no illusions): artists NEED to put out new stuff to get money to tour

but...wouldn't it be better to write + record some GOOD songs to make it worth the fans while buying the Cd, and worth the fans time coming to see the band at the show to hear the new GOOD songs.

or shall we ignore everything.Imagine you are the band 'leader'. Let's write two good songs. eight awful ones. promote it with a tour that never comes to your town. moan about the lack of support. never visit the area again. try and stage a comeback in two years time, by which time i will have sacked everyone in the band, recruited some new fresh blood, and do it all again

Repeat to fade

Bizzarrely enuf, i am not and have never been in a band.
So i do not speak from personal bitter experience, simply cynical + sarcastic observation of 'the scene'

Circle in the sand was a real pit-stormer!!!!

apparently, 'walk like an egyptian' is a cover of a Nile song.

I am looking forward to that too

(satisfied of my sarcasm??)
