I just got a pair of these for £40:

I don't know if they're like the NS10's, as I've never tried NS10's, but they might be better for me than my Tannoy Reveals.

Less bassier than the Tannoys, which makes me think the Tannoys are accentuating the bass a fair amount. High-end seems a bit more clearer... I can actually hear the tails of reverb to the end of the tail; whereas with the Tannoys... tails seemed to get lost fairly quickly when in a mix.

I'm gonna be testing them out, but I figure they were worth a punt for £40!!

Well as long as the box is the same size and constructed the same way, the woofers/tweeters are the same specs, and they use the same crossover network values, they probably would sound similar. Or they could be complete crap. Who knows.

These are far less fatiguing than the Tannoys. I think it's because of the clearer high-end and the less spikey. It is kind of like having a LPF at 15khz and a HPF at 100hz... not exact figures; but if you imagine that pattern, it'll give you an idea. The low end still exists, but is not as prominent as the Tannoys. The high-end is less like a foggy cloud, and more like a window-pane.

how are you finding these dude?

i've been interested in em for a while! my only reason for never purchasing em before is i had a mate tell me hes heard that the drivers can go quite easily!

you may have just resurrected my GAS, if i could find a pair for the price you paid, i'd be right on it, would be nice to compare em against my passive alesis ones!

Well mine were second hand. £40 ... worth a punt. This mate of mate type thing - clearing a bunch of stuff from his studio. I also got a 4x12 sized cab, that has two Celestion G12M's in there - one of them is a bit fucked though.

Think I will get some V30's and throw them in the box. Needs a new back though.

But the cab cost me £20; so fuck it!!

I'm just noticing more clarity all round with these speakers, versus my Tannoys. I've never used NS10's, so I can't compare them unfortunately. But I'm hearing mixes in a very clear manner, where as with my Tannoys there is a little wooliness.

have some at the studio as spares in case the ns10's go.
Defineatly capture the NS10 vibe... though not quite as good.
