Northern Chicago Burbs
I checked out the clips of The Pale Haunt Departure when it was released and for some reason it never clicked. Last week I figured I'd give it another shot when I came across the video for the title track. Needless to say, I jumped on The End and added it to my order.

I had never really been into doom metal, since the slow, sludgy sound doesn't agree with me, but you guys have the perfect amount of crunch and groove to give the genre a kick in the ass. A lot of growling vocals sound thin, but Paul's have a great, full sound and are enunciated clear enough to still understand the lyrics. The clean vocals are even more haunting than Dan Swano's, which is hard to believe, but I love it.

I'll definitely be picking up the new album, and slowly working through the rest of the discs. Just wanted to jump on the forum and let you guys know you've found a new fan and depending on how the rest of the Powerfest lineup shakes out, I may just have to make the drive from the northern burbs and see you play out!

Hiya,

The vox are also what drew me to ND three years ago. My first exposure was seeing them live, I had never heard a note of theirs before that, and Paul sounds just as good live.

As you work backwards through the discography, you will encounter more of the slow, sludgy sound so you'll probably find your comfort zone with TPHD and the new one.

depending on how the rest of the Powerfest lineup shakes out, I may just have to make the drive from the northern burbs and see you play out!

You should drive from the northern burbs regardless, just to support something so awesome happening in our own area. :headbang:

BTW, re: your avatar, aren't you happy with Slick? Isn't that the band one or two Radakka members ended up in? I saw them open for Rik Emmett at the House of Blues over a year ago and they didn't do much for me, so I'd also welcome more Radakka!

Cheers,

Ken

I may end up going. Chances are I'd end up attending alone, since the girlfriend could care less about the fest/lineup. It really depends on the headliners, though seeing November's Doom is a huge plus.

As far as Slick - they're my favorite band in the area right now. Caught them about 15 times in the past 3 years or so. I've always been a fan of Jon's work in Radakka - and I really dig what they're doing in Slick. Looking forward to the next album - I owe Jon a call actually, haven't talked to him in a long time.
