Am i the only one who thinks this has gone too far? I mean plans for a new album started being talked about it 2006...i mean christ, fucking epitaph came out over half a decade ago. I'm getting kinda pissed to to quite honest, Muhamed comes out of touring for like...two minutes to do an interview in which he says that new album is being written, then we dont hear from him for a year...then the exact same thing happens again...so...anyone else have anything to say about this?

They are people who were just into the music for the enjoyment before and ended up writing things that their fans deemed to be brilliant (subjective). Now on their follow up releases, they may not be able to create the same stuff (changes over time in personality, etc) but they have pressue to be omgamazing so they will keep adding tracks and re-recording until they get to what THEY think is perfect, which will likely just be shit. The expectations from fans has made their personal expectations even higher, so they are too scared to release anything.

When you say this are you only referring to Necrophagist, or Wintersun also? I wasn't sure because Ensi brought up Time lol

Well atleast they are listening to what their fans like I suppose, instead of a band like Bodom just pumping out random shit with each album.

Bodom is doing the music that they feel is good. They are making the music they want to. Whether fans like it or not, they are staying true to their music, from what I've read anyways.

In my personal experience...for the most part since this doesnt always apply, but usually does....the longer a band/musician spends re-tracking and re-recording to make everything perfect, the more the album just becomes an over produced, made to please fail of a record.....(death magnetic)

Necrophagist is boring. All the songs are the same. The solos are repetitive wank. Prove me wrong.

Skilled musician, trite music.

Necrophagist is boring.

You in bed are boring. Necrophagist kicks ass.

As far as the op goes, this:

shut up and wait.

Seriously. 5 years isn't even that long. Some artists do longer than that. And after the long wait, the new stuff kicks ass. Example: Immortal 2002 - SoND; 2009 All Shall Fall. I'd rather have a good album eveyr 5-7 years rather than somewhat-mediocre albums that are made faster than newborn rabbits.
