I snagged the new Nightmare album online today, Genetic Disorder, man does this album ROCK! The band finally has Fredrick Nordstrom at the engineering helm and it pays off BIG TIME. A huge Dream Evil-ish production, slamming guitars and their songs are heavy as hell. Think Firewind, Dream Evil and a bit of Outworld for good measure. Maybe some elements of Painkiller as well, particularly on the track "Final Procession".

As the writers of my favorite album of 2000: Cosmovision (a highly underrated gem) I've found their last 2 albums a bit stale and really lacking in the songwriting and production department. This new album sees that Nightmare have once again found their way back to the symphonic Power Metal they do damn near to perfection.

I'm still waiting for Sebastian Bach's new CD, but this may well be my favorite disc of 07. Check this monster out!

The new album is pretty good, but I think they went a bit "too heavy" and lost some melody along the way.

My fave remains Cosmovision and Silent Room. As well as the 80s flavoured comeback EP Astral Deliverance.

I guess I'm the odd one out, I think their best stuff is easily Waiting for the Twilight and Power of the Universe...

Well, the production on both discs sucked bad IMO and I wasn't too crazy about the original singer. But these songs were good, as I like them quite a bit sung by Jo on the Live Deliverance album...They should re-record them with the new line-up and today's sound...But it seems they have moved away from that 80s style so it'll never happen...

I dunno, I was never the biggest fan of really polished production, I'm more about Ample Destruction and old Liege Lord, so I found the sound of the first two albums to be pretty great. The original singers both sounded the same, a lot like Steve Grimmett if he didn't go over the top 100% of the time.
