Toby posted this on his Facebook page this morning. He has some old tapes of Michael Grant's vocals that were supposed to be for a new Onward album.

I'm finding and fixing some Onward material from 2002- this was planned for our 4th album which I'm re-recording parts for with a 12 year old analog tape of the late Michael Grant's vocals. So on this track, vocals from 2002- everything else YESTERDAY!!

Take a listen:

Not sure if he is going to release another disc or just a few songs. I really like this.

According to his Facebook page he is going to use Grant's old 2002 recordings for a new CD. Also, Mike Delucie chimed in and says he is also in possession of more of the Grant outtakes from 2002.

That would be awesome for a new Onward disc with Grant on vocals. Also, isn't Dan putting together some new Crescent Shield tracks with Grant outtakes from their recording sessions?

Any chance to hear some more of Toby Knapp's sweet ass riffs is fine with me. I never really liked Grant's voice though, I thought they were going to do a new album with a new singer, which sounded like an upgrade to me. Still, it's good to hear Onward back in the game again.

Looks like a new album in July! NICE!

Toby Knapp has completed restoration of the missing Onward album New Fathoms Down. The late Michael Grant's vocals were tracked in 2002 and the majority of the music has been re-recorded due to lack of a source tape.

"All the original demos were recorded with cassettes, and no master could be located to isolate and remix, so I basically rebuilt all the music again over the one recording I had, and luckily Mike's vocals were loud in the mix," states Knapp. "Completion of the project happened fast because I was extremely inspired to do this- it was hard to quit once I started hearing the songs come to fruition. Mike always wanted his music accounted for and eventually released. So it's my gift to him and his fans and the Onward audience."

The album is now scheduled for a July release through Shredguy Records. Exact date to be announced. Knapp made available via YouTube another track from the album Ghosts of Might Be Madness. "This, along with the rest of the album was my venture into heavily Led Zeppelin inspired territory," states Knapp.
