New Ozzy streaming

Worst Ozzy record so far.. and while i like Gus G's rythm-playing, all of his solo's lack soul.
But that being said, its not a bad record, but its definitely not up to par with the other ones.

I can't see ANYTHING good about this at all.
All it does is further drive the point home that the man is WELL past his prime and doesn't have a fucking clue what he wants or what he's doing anymore.
And no, some decent lead playing will not save the songs.
Gus G is just wasting his talent in Ozzy's band quite frankly.

Wow, this is the best Ozzy has done in like ten years. Which pains me to say, since I'm a huge fan of Zakk and was really sad to see him go.

I agree. But I also agree with Notuern as well that the solos lack soul and originality. I love Zakk, but I was getting sick of his downtuned pinch harmonics over and over again. After Randy, Zakk breathed new life into Ozzy with some great original playing and memorable melodic solos. While Gus is a great player and all, I really wish he was able to bring something like that to the table on this record. That being said, I still think this is the best Ozzy album since 'Ozzmosis' quite frankly.

I heard that Gus G only did the solos. No rhythm gtrs at all. Is this true?

Is it just me or is that a really 'narrow' mix? i.e. nothing seems to be panned an awful lot, it's all either dead centre or panned like 50% max. Either that or the myspace player is fucked and I'm hearing it in mono?

The myspace-player often makes awesome stuff sound like complete garbage.. but you never know.

Quality-wise, yeah, but I've never heard it make a tracks actual mix sound any different. This is just a really odd mix to me, maybe I'm over thinking it

Maybe they are changing something with the encoding engine, the brand new parkway drive track uploaded today also sounds like ass compared to the version on youtube.

The word on the street is that this album was written by Ozzy and (producer) Kevin Churko. My guess is that Kevin is responsible for most of the guitars, and that Gus was primarily brought in for leads. Any confirmation on this?

I gave a few tracks a quick listen last night, haven't had time to check this out in any detail. First impression is that it's a very polished, pop production with some surprisingly heavy and modern elements. Guitars sound like Digidesign Eleven all over the place. Ozzy sounds great and some of the lyrics seem cool actually.

This album sucks IMHO, and Gus G playing Zakk licks = :puke:
Zakk was repetitive sometimes, but his playing has a lot more soul and warmth than this technical guy.

Kind of what i think too.. id rather hear those terrible pentatonic licks over and over again, then hearing the soulless Gus G playing.
Dont get me wrong, Gus is a great guitar-player.. but you can really hear that all he thinks about is playing clean, instead of trying to portray an emotion.

I heard the same thing.
