LEE ABRAHAM – VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE

EDGE OF LIFE RECORDS

NEW PROGRESSIVE ROCK CONCEPT ALBUM FEATURING MARTIN ORFORD (IQ) AND KARL GROOM (THRESHOLD)

On Monday 20 December 2004 unsigned British progressive rock artist, Lee Abraham, releases his new album, View from the Bridge. A concept piece, the album tells a complex and involving story of how two identical lives were separated and then reunited by pure fate taking the listener on a both dark and uplifting journey over 73 minutes.

The album is arguably Lee's best and most complete work so far drawing on his many musical influences such as progressive artists, Spock's Beard, Dream Theater and Neal Morse as well as pop, rock and heavy metal artists such as Sting, Muse, Queen and Iron Maiden.

The way in which it was recorded was very different from Lee's previous albums as it features a whole range of guest musicians which together, make a rich and diverse sound.

Two extremely well respected UK progressive rock artists also lent their talents to Lee. IQ keyboard player Martin Orford (IQ, Jadis, Ayreon) was kind enough to compose and perform a true progressive rock synth solo in the 20 minute epic, Recurring Dream. Martin, who has also given Lee some great support and advice throughout the making of the album, is easily identifiable on the track. Also Threshold guitarist and producer Karl Groom recorded one of the best pieces for the album, an atmospheric and precise guitar solo on the track The Last Sacrifice. To have such respected artists add to Lee's album was both an honour and a privilege for him.

Long time musical partner and friend Gerald Mulligan (WOW, Solar, Liaison, Neptune's Sofa) was behind the drumkit once again and displayed his powerful and distinctive playing style. Friend and well respected local songwriter Gary Blackman (Blame the Weather, The Real Now) appeared on backing vocals on several tracks. Bournemouth jazz singer Kirsty Voce also appeared, stepping outside of her usual style to deliver a stunning lead vocal performance and also local jazz musician Sarah Bolter (Galahad) added some tasteful sax and flute across the album.

Old band mate Gerry Hearn (PassionStreet, Desperate Bycycles, Lynchpin, Unforgiven Kingdom) added explosive guitar solos on the album and Lee very much enjoyed working with him again, I'd forgotten just how good he really is! commented Lee.

In a truly transatlantic collaboration, Boston, USA based guitarist Barry Thompson (Phantom Lord, The Fractured Project) was able to appear on the album with the help of modern technology and added a fantastic solo.

Bassist Paul Tippett (Atacama, Neptune’s Sofa) played bass on the opening Overture No I and also provided the breath-taking artwork. Paul is also the man behind the artwork for the debut Kino album.

The efforts of all the guests makes for an album that is lush and varied and one that may see Lee get some kind of professional backing.

Sit back and enjoy the view from the bridge.
