LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Former guitarist for the rock group KISS, Bruce Kulick, was shot in the leg and another bullet grazed his head in a shooting rampage on Los Angeles' famed Sunset Strip, police said.
Kulick, 49, was hit when a gunman opened fire on guests on a restaurant patio in the legendary nightspot that is a magnet for Hollywood celebrities, wounding him and another man.
The shooting occurred at 1:20 am (0820 GMT) in front of the Rainbow Room, where screen goddess Marilyn Monroe first met her baseball hero husband Joe DiMaggio nearly 50 years ago, said sheriff's Lieutenant Bard Smith.
Hundreds of people were milling about the area which is dotted with bars, clubs and restaurants, he said.

The KISS lead guitarist was outside a music club about a quarter of a block from the shooting but was apparently struck by stray bullets fired by the gunman who was wrestled to the ground by passers-by.
An unnamed employee of the Rainbow Room was hit in the foot.
Both victims were taken to hospital while the gunman was arrested after being treated for wounds he suffered when he was tackled. Kulick was released after treatment.
Kulick was the lead guitarist for Kiss between 1984 and 1996 and has since formed his own band.
