Psychosocial has ended up on Youtube..
And All I Have Is Gone is up on iTunes IIRC.

Anyone else still interested in these guys, or is it just me?

What I've heard - this album is gonna sound pretty good when it comes out in August. The drums are sounding pretty good even on these crappy videos / mp3s.

FWIW - I am interested in them, still.

I might get lynched for admitting this - but I liked their last album the best - not quite sure why, but I did.

I like what I have heard so far - on the new one.

Edit: ya know what? I just thought about it ... and Iowa was a fuggin' awesome album, too.
anyway ...

I don't think they've put a foot wrong yet, but that's my opinion.
{at least you'll get lynched along with me!}

Iowa was one of the most brutal thing I'd heard until I discovered Black metal,.. and then got deeper into that sort of music.
It was a mix of Slayer and something mental - so Slipknot opened the gates in a way to more extreme music for me.

I really like the sound of most of their CDs too, there's never really been an album where I've thought "damn, that's not a good sonic choice for X"

I'm still interested too. Can't wait for the new album. I love the both tracks that's been "available" so far.

Slipknot kinda got me into extreme music (Ok i knew about Cannibal Corpse and Deicide and such before but i was just "discovering" it... Slipknot made me realize how much death metal stuff ruled, and then i quickly started to listen to bands like Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Immolation...). Iowa is my favourite. Volume 3 wasn't too bad but the violent parts/singing are very average, whereas the melodic/experimental stuff is awesome.

On the new tracks from the oncoming album it seems they have best of both worlds.

Same here (just replace "black metal" with "extreme metal in general"), and "Slayer" with "Sepultura/Pantera/Korn/Morbid Angel/Nirvana/Testament".

Iowa has an awesome production. Guitars are very gainy/modern and not the kind of tone i'm after, but it rules anyway. The drums/bass/singing is just awesome.

I still think their Self titled album at night in the dark is the most awesome of experiences..

I had it on tape, ftw!

That's cool to see someone else had the same experience as me..

If i had to pick one song from that album to listen to in the dark it would be "Prosthetics". Crazy song.

Something i love on Slipknot albums is how "real" the drums sound (doesn't mean they didn't use samples), even if i'm not a huge fan of the very fat and rock-ish drum sound on vol. 3.

Looks like they tapped Colin Richardson for the mix duties on the new one. I'm not a Slipknot fan at ALL, but I'll check it out to hear the mix.

Wow, their new stuff sounds really different compared to iowa but i like it! Psychosocial is heavy and groovy as fuck.

heh,.. I was expecting to get totally ripped with this topic!

Awesome to see that a lot of people are appr. them as musicians and not just "masked metalheads".

I've always loved their drum tone... one of my favorites so far, but I'm not a fan of their music. I don't mean to disrespect anyone's taste, but I think they still could play live with half the people that there are actually in the band...

I can't believe the "percussionists" and sampler are even still in the band, honestly - that always struck me as a gimmick (or a revolting remnant of the nu-metal era in the case of the sampler), but gimmicks don't usually last this long, so maybe there is some significance to them. And I dig Slipknot from what I've heard; their drums really do sound fucking awesomely raw, and the guitar tones as well, and I've never disliked the music, just found some of it to be a bit dull.
