New SOILWORK available for streaming...

Why do they have to stream on myspace??? Can't they choose a better place to stream, say their website? Despite the annoyingly slow load of the page, it is nice to hear it all before I decide about buying it.

The streaming audio is horrible, as usual on MySpace. Sounds like a solid disc and overall I really like it. There's definitely some lushness missing from their sound since Peter Wichers left, maybe some of that is by conscious choice, but it's still SOILWORK and I just ordered the CD/DVD/T-Shirt deal on CM Distro.

Sounds cool !
I like the sound of the drums, not too produced. The guitars are really cutting but it has something pleasant : that Engl metallic midrange thing, maybe a bit annoying when listening to the entire album ??
Vocals sound cool too.

Definitely not the Soilwork I used to like (Steelbath suicide, Chainheart Machine). Their formula is getting old really. Give me some "Wings of Domain" or "Spirit of the Future Sun".

I think the songs really are a step up from their previous two records, but man... Why do they have to insert clean vocal choruses on almost every song? I think Björns screaming vocals are immense, but the clean vox.. not always quite there. (even though they have improved)

I too just ordered the CM Distro deal as well. I feel there is that little something missing, but it IS still SOILWORK. I think Speed's vocals sound amazing. Great job Devin. :kickass:

Although I really like Soilwork I'll do the usual fan rant: the first two albums are their best. Period.
Even though they owe a LOT in terms of style and inspiration to the late At the Gates.

this new album is the most horrible release of 2007 for me , the sound AND the songs...

i cannot listn to 1 entire song... i have to click next... and next... borring album....

To me, Soilwork's best albums are Chainheart Machine, A Predator's Portrait, Natural Born Chaos, and Figure Number Five. That's really where they were the most inspired and kept adding new things to each release. After Natural Born Chaos I wondered where they were going to go next, and Figure Number Five was even more amazing. "Stabbing The Drama" was where things started to get less inspired, but it was still decent.

They put out a long string of some of my favorite metal albums ever, and I think that especially now with Peter Wichers gone they're going to have trouble competing with themselves.

That all being said, their most recent two albums are still very solid, and I think the songs are probably catchier in that the lyrics are simpler, which will win them some new fans in the States I'm sure.

You know who I miss as much as (perhaps even more than) Wichers? Sven Karlsson. IMO, his relatively up front synths on Natural Born Chaos were a big part of why those songs sound so full. After hearing the song fragments in the e-card for the new album yesterday, I had to check to see if they even still have a full-time keyboard player. :err:

THANK YOU!! So many people seem to loathe FNF, but I adore it!
I'm also an old school SW fan, and I was kinda dissapoionted when they started getting "slower and poppier", but FNF is nowadays my favorite SW album. It's one of my top 5 metal productions. It just sounds soooo big and unique in a way :headbang:.
I'll definately be getting the new album, eventhough the production is not my favorite, but overall it sounds a lot better to me than the previous album, which I didn't like at all.
