Hey guys,Wrote and recorded this instrumental on my own hopefully I will be getting a friend to put vocals on it soon.

The mix is not amazing, unfortunatly the guitars make it sound muddy and clostraphobic. I don't have good enough equipment to get a great guitar tone, just a wee laptop and a mic that wasn't meant for guitars but I have no money for an sm57:L.

Lead parts where recorded straight in but my laptop couldnt handle the rhythm straight in from my line 6.

Anyway enough of what I think what do you guys think?

Its my first full proper mix recorded in ma living room so don't be too harsh but any and all tips n constructive critasisms are welcome.

Also I doubled the pinch harmonic up way too much :L

Likin' the song.

For the mix you need to work on the guitars abit.
Also sort those cymbals out.

Thanks man, what you think I should do with the cymbals? Like whats wrong them and how can I fix them?

Unfortunatly I can't fix the guitars. I'm gonna save up though so I can afford better equipment to record them :).

Thanks again.

How did you record your rhythm guitars?
Can you apply any eq or compression on the guitars to remove the mud.

For the cymbals they're abit overpowering just bring them down in the mix.

Awsome man ill bring them down soon then, I Eqed them to take out the buzz thatwas appearing around the high end, I'm worryed about adding compression incase it just brings the buzzes n crackles out but ill try it [:.

And I recorded my guitar through a line 6 then used a shure prologue mic to record the amp.

For eq did you get rid of some lows and decrease around 200-400hz, this can add body but can also make it sound quiet muddy.

Try this.
