New Ulver song

It sounds like every other bargain basement hack artist in rotation at SomaFM. Wake me up when an original idea occurs to Ulver.

Funny, I'm always stuck half-way between absolutely agreeing and absolutely disagreeing with that... Except of course with Nattens Madrigal and Bergtatt, which I'll always love. And maybe Themes From William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven. The rest I hate half the time, and love the other half.

Yeah right, because SO many bands have made albums of black metal, dark folk with chanting, smooth dark electronic jazz, industrial/darkwave interpretations of classic English poetry and twisted, experimental electronica.

I think you need to get a dictionary and look up the meaning of 'original'.

Can't really say being a trick monkey makes you original. Though I'm definitely not agreeing with Scourge.

But I do pray for the day that Ulver stops being 'original' and returns to their original sound.

Fair point, but criticise Ulver failing to produce quality, then, rather than a lack of originality. Ulver are clearly original, but I accept that original doesn't necessarily mean good.

I've always found that way of thinking to be very arrogant, who are you to say that a stylistic change that happens to be different from what the fans like is grounds for a "necessary" name change.

So they're Renaissance Ripoffs, so what? Working derivatively in many different styles doesn't make you original.
