Nickleback-All the Right Reasons
Roadrunner Records
3 out of 5

I’ll admit it, the only reason I bought this record is to hear ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbon’s role on the opener “Follow You Home,” on which he lays down vocals and his trademark guitar tone and a bluesy solo and album closer “Rockstar.” Both are rockers that will have you taping your foot and are more rawk than what you’re used to by Nickleback. You can than the grittier mix to Randy Staub and Mike Shipley, who really gave Nickleback the balls that their music was once lacking. It’s not just that, somewhere along the way Chad Kroeger and Company have grown as songwriters and musicians.
As I mentioned, the Billy Gibbons appearance was the motivation, I picked up All the Right Reasons, but there’s also the appearance from Dimebag Darrell, who plays a solo from the grave on “Side of A Bullet,” which is a tribute to Dime. And what a worthy tribute it is, the solo sounds like it was knocked out just for this session., when in fact, it was a series of guitar parts that were spliced together.
So you ask how does the rest of the record fair, without the guests? Well, not bad, I love the “Animals,” which had a great chorus and monster main riff, “Next Contestant,” sounds like a goofy title, but you’ll find it impossible to get this one out of your skull! As mentioned earlier, “Follow You Home,” “Side of a Bullet,” “Rockstar,” are killer ”If Everyone Cared,” will make you flick your bic and another strong track is “Fight for All the Wrong Reasons.” Nickleback have finally busted out of their box and delivered a record that isn’t bland and so 1992. Just buy it for All the Right Reasons.

This is a great album. I was never a huge Nickelback fan before just liked certain songs but I really dig this one. "Animals" is my favorite song and the final 6 or 7 seconds of the song sound like something off an old Overkill album with the heavy crunch and pounding double bass. Too bad the entire song couldn't be in that vein. I am really starting to expand my horizons and there is alot of good mainstream hard rock and metal out there. Within the past year or so I went from being a one dimentional power/traditional metal fuck also liking some thrash and have opened my ears to some amazing death/black metal bands as well as some mainstream popular rock which you could hear on todays radio such as Nickelback, Shinedown, Godsmack, and Disturbed.

Sounds like it might be better than their last album... This one I might check out.

All the work before The Long Road (Or what ever) was generic and I didn't like hearing any of it. The Long Road was abit better... Maybe this one will hit the spot with me.

Nickelback, imo, is a band that does average, unoriginal rock.

however, they do it very, very well. so while i can't say they're groundbreaking or essential, rock fans will find something to like about their catchy and simple tunes. ironically, the members are actually quite good musicians who just aren't into showing off their shred-tacular skillz.

omg i registered just to respond to this stupid ass thread...NICKELBACK SUCKS BALLS ok?

why is this band even being talked about on a METAL forum ...holy shit
u guys should go to the mtv forums...

Common you guys, be serious!
This album is most definitely essential to any fan of black, death, power, speed, doom and/or thrash metal.
