I just saw that fuse is running a program on Nikki Sixx’s infamous OD and his “bounce back to the top”haha. I’ve definitely heard/read about this a bunch of times but for some reason the story still intrigues me. I mean, the guy frickin died for five minutes and they revived him somehow. Anyway, it’s on Thursday night on fuse, and they have a bunch of video previews here: http://fuse.tv/tv/live-through-this/index.php?PHPSESSID=a5d64ca8deb14f7bcdc521dc116cf46d

Awesome. I'll check this out while I still have free cable.

The book was pretty good, I liked the glossy graphic novel style of it. I picked up the soundtrack not expecting much and their are a couple of songs I really like. I was quite surprised.

Cheers!

i keep meaning to pick up that book. i missed the special, was it any good? im pretty stoked on that Talking Metal show that's comin on tonight too. good to see metal getting some TV time in between teh cookie cutter crapola.

I'm not a huge fan of talking metal their interview style is very fanboyish.
I know they mean well and are metal fans but they don't ask any hard questions. They play it way too safe it's like Bill and Ted get a tv show based on the success of their podcast loaded with Larry King quality questions and interview skills...

Also pick up the book The Herion Diaries a great read and if you're into moder rock check out SIXX: AM Nikki's band who scored the soundtrack for the book...

I borrowed the book from a friend and read it over a three day period...just page turning stuff. Couldn't put it down.

The older I get, the more I appreciate Crue. They've been pretty awesome for most of their career. And the Corabi album is CLASSIC! :worship:

Sixx is a great songwriter. Yes, he's chased the dollar a bit too often, but even those songs are quality!

The thing that got old was him bagging on Coverdale and Whitesnake...
Seems like that happened much too often in the book for no reason other than he was threatened by their popularity... When I saw Motley in Portland on that tour Whitesnake was opening and shortly after that tour they were headlining. You can't deny Coverdale's abilities as a singer and songwriter...
MC '94 is one of my all-time favorite records. "Hooligan's Holiday" is a choice cut for the ages, listen to it now and it still sounds fresh, timeless...

I agree. I used to listen to their podcasts, but there format got old pretty quick. I know they're not exactly groomed as radio/tv personalities(I think john used to work at mtv and mark at sci-fi, but behind the scenes).

I did check out the show and it is better than the podcast because they have much better editing. They have some really good guests like Ian Christe, but they didn't show him saying much of anything. It's like they ignored their guests. The show seemed really awkward...kinda like the podcasts. Maybe they need some time to figure out a good formula.

Oops...sorry...went way off topic. So yeah, they did an interview with Nikki....

The end result of the TV show is easier to digest, but like you said the problem is with the editing... Good to have you here man. Good discussion.

Thanks for the welcoming comments.

I'll support Talking Metal, but I do hope they get better. They're not quite there yet.

Nikki's a cool dude. I too have heard the OD story many times but I watched it anyway. He OD twice and the first time the dealer just left him for dead in a fucking dumpster, this I did not know until I watched this particular show. Thats fucking messed up. I've been meaning to check out the book for a while now.
