NIN 2005 Album

[A Poor Musician]

I listened to some of their songs from their 2005 album, and I don't know if I like it, or not.

Anyone have opinions on this?

NIN is Industrial I guess, they are basically metal. I saw a new video by them and I though it was pretty cool, especially by the standards of mtv. Another Video I liked on Mtv was the new Avenged Sevenfold Video, I thought they were gay before but its fucking great to see shred guitar solos and dual guitar harmonies on Mtv.

I actually enjoy the new NIN album. IT isnt too pretentious and a fun listen, unlike those that argue pointless arguments based on musical classifications.

NIN is pop/techno. The only industrial/metal album NIN has is the Broken E.P.

The new NIN album is pretty good. It's much more rock oriented than The Fragile and the stuff before that. Nothing hugely surprising or special but it's a fun listen, yes.

As for the retarded genre argument that has ensued. Arguing that NIN isn't industrial is like arguing that In Flames isn't metal. Just because a band represents the more accessible/pop-fringe part of a genre doesn't mean they are completely excluded from it. NIN are industrial/rock, and how much industrial or rock they are depends on which part of their discography you're looking at.

broken is weak compared to later stuff. the new one is fun, but it lacks the emotional deepness and classic riffs/lines of their earlier releases. Classificationwise, it would be a mistake to call it anything other then industrial rock or industrial pop. Honestly, metal? Wtf, it maybe comes close in like three songs....
