A couple months ago I bought every DVD out of the VH1 "classic album" series on amazon.com for about $40 shipped to my door (some used some new). It's worth it. The Black Album dvd shows some of the amps and recording techniques. The dvd's have special features that are interesting too.

Wow 40$ is quite a great bang for the buck... I watched some of the metallica stuff also, it's killer footage.

Yeah they're a great series, really shows you how alot of stuff isn't science, it's guys just trying stuff and rolling with what works. Cool to see some of the older ones too- stuff like Maiden, Queen, Pink Floyd.
