That probably depends on the band. Shipping a whole tour around by air must be really expensive. Pink Floyd may have done it that time they came here and only did a couple of major cities (don't remember for sure). But they are Pink Floyd! A HUGE band for the CBS/Sony label even though they rarely ever do the touring thing anymore. Well, David Gilmour is going to do a solo tour for his new album soon. Two nights in April are already sold-out in Chicago. There are multiple dates on his tour, too. I'm not sure if he's going to travel around in a bus, but who knows? Maybe he is?! If not, he might do like another previous and successful CBS band - Blue Öyster Cult - who may not have reached the PF strato-success level but they still had major success during their peak years. They still do lots of touring (mostly in the US) but I don't think they travel by bus anymore. I think they fly most everywhere now and only carry their guitars with them. The other stuff - like the rest of the band equipment, stage lighting/sound, and other specs - is in their rider. They must get what they ask for, too, otherwise they wouldn't be able to play.
I guess once you've reached stardom (the peak) and start to level off or even fall below, that famous 'peak' name can help you issue demands that may or may not be met later on down the road. But you have to pay your dues first! Like, well, you know...our new favorite buddies from Sweden and Canada.

Anyway, I hope they can work something out for this tour in NoCal. Keep the faith!
