noisy sound??

My friend gave me an album (my friut psyhobells) of this band MOFW, (after your invasion i was a bit curious), and i want to share my dissapointment...
the sound was pretty noisy (it was like recorded in some basement) off-tune guitars and singing...empty boring music... sounded a little bit like a In The Woods rip-off...
whats wrong with you guys?

b) "my fruit..." is a demo that ended up being released, the production is MUCH better on the other albums.
c) what's wrong with you? you look kind of run down today.

I'm sure other people will have things to say.

i do.

a) i actually like the production as it is. at first i found it kind of hoarse too, but then that smoothed away upon conversance with the music. it's one of my favorite albums. i keep saying it's "mythopoetic", it's dark and dips into a wide array of stylings. i do see "in the woods" in it, i also a little bit of esoteric in it. the lyrics are beautiful and the music captures a "moon, earth, oceans and youth" spirit about it. excellent considering it is a demo.
