Northern Kings... How could I miss this?

I just stumbled upon Northern King's REBORN album. Saw that it features Marco Hietala and Tony Kakko, among others. Much to my surprise, it's a supergroup that only does covers, if I'm not wrong.

Have you guys checked this out yet? It's so cool to see older pop songs done in power metal, such as this:

I've heard some of their songs and I agree with DAD, it's ok to me. With that said, I think it's cool they covered the Training Montage from the Rocky IV movie!

We covered their cover of "Hello" last year when we played those shows with Suspyre and Dark Empire in NYC and Allentown. There are some interesting arrangements on that CD.

And they arent' done. A new one will be coming out in 2010. Works for me.

My boyfriend bought the first album last year and he cannot get enough of it. I have heard it, but not a huge fan of all the singers on it, but decent stuff non the less.

i have both records, it could have been one solid album. definitely some filler on there, but the good stuff is great!

i did note in the liner notes they don't arrange any of the songs, with except to singer from SA i believe arranging his vocals. the rest is done by producers of the project.

That would make sense. Seems like a lot of work goes into it and those are some busy guys(especially Hietala). I would think they'd only have time to lay down vocal tracks.

These sound cool, so I'll have to check these out! With that said, Northern Kings turned the Idol tune into a goth rock song, which I'm a total sucker for. It sounds like something the 69 Eyes would do, which I'm a big fan of.
