After a week or so of deliberation both Noel @ INERTIA ENTERTAINMENT and myself have decided to cancel this year’s NORTHERN LIGHTS 2005.

Out of respect to the bands and the fans, we felt it was important to make this decision now – almost 4 months before the show – rather then waiting till the last minute to pull the plug.

We are canceling this year’s fest for two reasons:. First ticket sales have not met the target set for this point in time. Second, we have recently learned that the SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND (18 bands; all day festival) is planned to hit Toronto the same weekend as NLF2005. As a result of the conflicting shows, we don’t believe that we’ll be able to meet our target ticket sales for NLF2005.

We deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused participating bands and all the metalheads that planned to attend NLF2005.

:erk:

Sounds of the Underground is that hardcore shitfest right? Typical. Although if you distinguish the fans, it really shouldn't have any impact. I can't imagine people needing to toss a coin between going to see 'Usurper' and 'Norma Jean'.

Hmm, let me think: death metal about werewolves, beer, gargoyles, and general debauchery....or emo-Christian worshipping straightedge hardcore.
