Here is something I recorded last night - (3 hour session).
It's a part of a piece by Honegger - the choir part will have to be done in another session but I'm curious as to what everyone here thinks of the results - especialy if there is too much room in the takes. I'm wondering if I should have placed the mic closer.
Minimal eq/reverb added - it's pretty much raw...

chain: c414 XLS->UA610->Apogee Ad16X
Voxengo Gliss EQ +3db at arround 10K, wideQ.
Summing Apogee DA16X -> Harrison MR3 -> Apogee AD 16X

I think it sounds pretty direct allready... not like there is too much room really.

however, that completely depends on what this will be mixed in.
See, i would probably give this a shitload more room in the end... i would load up a nice impulse reverb of a classical instruments hall.

But like i said, it completely depends on how this will end up like and for what it will be used.

Sounds good dude.

hmmm... I just used one mic since it was the same person playing all the melody lines - I had them move arround the room by a 1-2 feet between each instrument to give it a more realistic sense of space... maybe I should have used a stereo pair... When I compared to classical recordings those are even drier for solo instruments... Anyway, this is the best we could do in 3 hours.

Hey man, thanks, I can't post the other stuff until it's released by the band, the above is for one of my projects + it's not like I record viola/sopranos every day so I'm looking for some feedback... I still have to listen to it today and make some corrections - my ears were tired yesterday when I posted this and I'm hoping it doesn't sound like crap this morning.
