Las Vegas, Nevada officially declared today (Friday, November 1) "Five Finger Death Punch day" in honor of the band, which calls the city its home. Commissioner Tick Segerblom recognized the group with a proclamation for its success which includes several gold and platinum albums. The event was at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas where the band is kicking off its new tour this weekend. To coincide with FIVE FINGER's two shows at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino this Friday (November 1) and Saturday (November 2), a new display was unveiled at the entrance to the hotel. The proclamation reads: "Whereas, it is the privilege of the Board of County Commissioners to honor and recognize multi-platinum-selling artist and award-winning band FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, and their commitment to entertainment, the performing arts and the community; and "Whereas, with an unparalleled music career, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has accumulated 21 consecutive US top-10 hits, eight #1 hits, three gold albums, three platinum albums, and a platinum single, making them the most successful band in the rock genre in terms of album sales; and "Whereas, with more than 3 billion streams, 4.5 million albums, and 10 million digital songs sold worldwide, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is the recipient of countless awards, including the Soldier Appreciation Award from the Association of the United States Arm – European Region (only other artist awarded was Elvis Presley); and "Whereas, with their song 'Wrong Side Of Heaven', they raised awareness for veterans suffering from PTSD and more than $225,000 for organizations that support veterans. "Now, therefore, we, the Board of Commissioners of Clark County, Nevada, do hereby recognize FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and congratulate them on the success of their career and their two sold-out hometown shows at The Joint at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas." FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory told Las Vegas Weekly about calling Vegas home: "Everyone knows Vegas for the Strip, and I had the same perception. Then I had friends who lived in Green Valley and Summerlin, and once I visited them, I was like, wow this is a beautiful place, and I moved out here. I moved out to Vegas before any of the other guys. We were still rehearsing in Burbank, and I would get to the rehearsal place faster than the guys who lived in L.A., because the traffic is so bad. It was a running joke, that I could get there faster living in Vegas."
