Anyone else like to see these guys at Prog Power, or am I the only one? With Chity now in the band, I feel this band is gonna annihilate the Metal scene.

Being a huge Gus G, Pagans Mind, and Avalon/Faro fan, I guess this is almost like a supergroup to me now!

I am so waiting to hear new material with Chity on the vox.

Sorry my brother but I disagree , they are generic at best. Can't always agree on everything LOL.. I much prefer Mystic Prophecy to Firewind.

Chity Somapala

formerly (or currently still?) singer of the German prog metal act Ivanhoe. Andy B. Franck (Symphorce, Brainstorm) also sang for them, ages ago......a very good band!! I do recommend their CDs Visions And Reality and Symbols Of Time, both with Andy on vox. Great stuff!!

I have not heard Firewind as of now, so I have no clue whether they are good or not.

He sings for Ivanhoe? I didn't even know they still existed. And i do have those 2 Ivanhoe albums you mentioned; they are great!!! Are u sure about this guy singing for Ivanhoe??? Or ever singing for them?

yes, I'm sure, but there never was a new CD with him as far as I know. I do have three soundclips of rough mixes from 2001 by Ivanhoe with Chity singing though, I was waiting for the CD then, but nothing happened or I totally missed it (which is very unlikely ;))

I think most people will know him as former singer of Avalon.

I found the whole thing a bit confusing. At first it was made to seem like Stephen just couldn't make it for the Japan tour, but now that's not the case apparently. I haven't heard Chity sing before, unfortunately, but if Gus shows up at ProgPower with Firewind (or any of his projects for that matter), I will be thrilled!

Eurasia is one of my top 25 CDs of all time. I am very happy for Chitral and Firewind. Chitral is very talented and a nice guy. I'm happy he got with a quality band. Firewind picked up an oustanding vocalist in the process as well.
I hope they record with Stian again as well. You have pretty good taste in music there Drumrman, as I am also a fan of PM and Avalon, but I am new to Firewind. I wholeheartedly agree this band could really make some waves if they write songs to Chitral's vocal strengths.

Now who the hell is Chity?
Chity Lanka (Chitral Somapala)

He is probably best known as the Avalon (Germany) lead vocalist, but he has been involved with several project bands as well. His latest was Faro which was more or less AOR, but good stuff.
There are plenty of clips on his homepage I linked above. If you go there make sure you check out the Scorpions cover he did of "Alien Nation." I'm not big on covers personally, but he nailed that one and sounded better than Klaus.
