i was freaking looking for this site several months ago and COULD NOT find it!
10-kiloton is awfully small, and one of the few bombs that could fit into a suitcase (i think they have 80 to 100 kiloton suitcase bombs easily available) so i think it's more likely than not!

well, yeah, you couldn't bring a nuke of any size through an airport b/c of radiation detection.
but something like 90% of shipping containers entering this country aren't even scanned by any sort of radioactivity equipment, so it'd be pretty easy to move one in by sea.

well, yeah, by "suitcase nuke" i don't mean a slim leather briefcase, but a small enough size that it could be easily carried in the trunk of a car. even a little car.

also i think if al-qaeda actually had a nuke in its possession and the means to deliver it overseas they would have. but i do think that they are in the process of acquiring one or more that have been gradually moving into shadier and shadier hands, from the pakistani ISI or the ukraine, etc.

There was a documentary about the Pakistani bomb last friday and how it came about. Actually, Canada is the country that brought Atomic energy to Pakistan in a simpler time where it was believed that it would help and that Atomic energy was the cleanest form of energy available. The bomb is such a symbol for Pakistanis that they call it the Islamic bomb and it is apparently the pride of all Islamic countries. Despite the US and England trying to prevent them to buy the equipment to finish the bomb they were able to smuggle everything in. The Pakistani bomb seems safe -for now- but who nows how long Musharraf will be there and whom will be able to grease who to get it.

The problem with the Islamic bomb is that in order to keep them secure, Pakistani nukes are continually moved around the country in utmost secrecy from location to location. This is under the control of the ISI, which was the faction of the Pakistani military/government who supported the Taliban, al-Qaeda, etc.--they're notoriously full of Islamic fundamentalists in their higher levels, and continually struggle against Musharraf and the seculars.
It's only a matter of time before a convoy of Pakistani soldiers transporting a nuke is ambushed by al-Qaeda types, working on an ISI tip. If it hasn't happened already and been covered up.

no, honestly, i've been saying since 9/11, al-qaeda should totally strike at our celebrity culture. i was thinking they could do it cheapest/best by a series of assassinations. think about it: that would impact the average American a LOT. let's say they even managed to kill just ten pretty big celebrities. that would probably be even bigger a hit than another 9/11.
so nuking LA would be an AWESOME coup. more landmarks that matter to the American people than any other city x10,000.
