My first four batches of homebrew were delicious! My 5th batch had a wild yeast (I think).
One of the 47 bottles exploded. The other 46 bottles had crap floating on the top and when I opened them GUSH!! They spewed all over the sink! :cry:
It was very sad.
 
Thanks brother. I think the siphon tube was not sanitized enough.

Speaking of Heineken, I had one draught when I was in Amsterdam. It is WAY better than the store bought Heineken! It was one of the best beers I've had. And I've had a lot of beer!
 
There used to be a differnce in import/export Heineken , maybe it depended on how thirsty you were or the amount of booze you had the night before, hahaha

Green bottles are what cause beers to skunk. It has also been proven that the chemicals in a skunks spray are allmost identical to those found in skunked beer. FACT. I read it in National Geographic. Its in the current issue if you want to read the artical yourself.
 
Hmmm... That's interesting. Why would green bottles do that? But it's true. Grolsch (sp?) comes in green bottles and it's skunky (but good).
Heineken comes in green bottles and it is skunky. But the Heineken I had on tap was excellent...
I'll have to check out that article.
 
It has to do with light getting through and spoiling the beer. Thats why good beer comes in brown bottles, i.e. Sam Adams, Petes, Stone Brewing etc. Skunky beer comes in green bottles Heiny, and Grolsch as stated and cow piss comes in clear bottles i.e. Bud, Miller, Corona.
It was just a little blurb really and I'm not sure if its in this months or last months issue.
 
I like beer.................................................. What is this thread about?????? Oh yea, I have noticed the Green bottle theory too, but my favorite is MGD, and that comes in clear bottles. Always tastes good to me!

Well... I will say this:
Guinness= good
Miller= bad
 
Its not easy being a beer snob. I admit it I am. I have to bite my tounge on many occasions. Like when someone complains that there is only Miller and no Budweiser. Well to me they are both yak piss. They taste like crispy banana water. Most people just dont take the time to learn what good beer is. Also, its an acquired taste a lot of people wont take the time to acquire the taste. If you like Miller or Bud thats cool I just cant stand the stuff.
