It's been a while since Oblique Rain came to life, in 2004. The will and good taste of two old friends, Flavio and Cesar, made them start an unusual project for the portuguese underground scene. Not better, nor worst, but simply different. Their story is written by dreams, frustrations and hope, but most of all by attitude and growing knowledge. They had the potential and creativity for the mission, but they where lacking the right partners, the ones who would share the same visions and tastes as them. These came as a gift and so naturally as they could not imagine. Daniel Botelho and André Ribeiro joined the band middle 2006 and the way they commited was pure magic. Oblique Rain were ready to start their journey to the unknown and plan the make of their debut Album.

"ISOHYET" is coming early May. The result of two years of experimenting was recorded as shaped as possible for a debut work. The judgment is left for those who during the past months where expecting this release and for new followers which can eventually be seduced by these oblique soundscapes.

Well, it's always difficult to establish a relation between your own music and other's. Personally I think the only similaritie that we have with Moonspell is the fact that we are both Portuguese and maybe our roots could explain what you mention. Besides that there is no connection at all. But we do enjoy their work.

Thanks for listening :kickass:

nice work. but i have to be a party pooper and point out that theres a thread for members' music projects that this should be posted on. if youre music was shit i would have said that rudely:)

I'm for sure happy you didn't reply in a rude way, which is a good sign judging for your words. Thanks for supporting.

The truth is that I placed this topic where you suggested and I had no replies. Here you have more chances of being noticed and as a non Opeth music chat it's not at all absurd to promote your band here. It's a subject like any other.

indeed.
I also thought of riverside, maybe it's the vocalstyle and arrangements...absolutely no ripoff though.
Are you labeled?
Nice producing, we should hook up for a gig ^_^
keep rocking.

We're not labeled yet. We should have the album ready in a few weeks and only then we will try to reach some label contract.
Maybe soon we can start playing some gigs around the globe :kickass:

Just wanted to let you guys know that our debut album is finally available.
Those who might be interested should visit our Myspace page.

Compliments to you all,
Cesar

I must say I enjoyed the sample songs on myspace. Although I think the occasional growls were fucking awesome, you should really have more of that in the future, I think. They owned so much!

Well, sounds really good anyhow!

Cheers
David Lingdell.

That's for listening Davling.

Our next record will probably have more growls. Our music really asks for that!

Glad you enjoyed it! :headbang:

Cheers
Cesar

Awful band name, but the music isn't that bad! Some bits are really didn't appeal to me though - for example.. I hated Dealing With Lies' intro. Brings Disturbed to mind. Never a good thing.

That aside, you've achieved a very nice production. I wouldn't be surprised if you had some record label interest in the near future.

You can be sure it has nothing to do with Disturbed! Never listened seriously to their music.
Concerning the band's name it's your point of view, but I can tell you it is the name of a poem from the best portuguese poet of all times (Fernando Pessoa). So there is a meaning behind the name.

Anyway, the name Opeth is nothing special but their music is the best!

Compliments
