Figured I'd make a thread now for it, since I plan on making some vids/pics of the process.

Machine and I have been talking a bit planning out the mix/production of it, and we're doing some pretty unorthodox shit that I'm VERY excited about.

For now, I'll leave it at:

Wish me luck

Congrats!! I just have some questions though.

Are you interning there and just calling it Engineering?

Have you ever worked with Machine before?

If not i personally find it kinda crazy he is just letting you come in and Engineer such a big record for him with no experience there.

Sorry not trying to drill yea, but just hard to wrap my head around this. If anything i think the title would read..Off to Machine Shop to Assist on the xxxxxx album.

Fill me in on the story bro!! Curious about the details of all this and how it worked out. Sounds like the chance of a lifetime to be honest!

+1, I smell a storm coming - but if it's true, congrats!

lol.. I don't mind a 'storm'.. Don't really care either way. Nothing is going to unexcite me.

Josh-- Couldn't really tell you how it worked out exactly. Machine literally called me from a restricted number and we started chatting... It's not an intern position, iI'm being hired on as the engineer.

SICK!!

You recording on Logic?

That's something him and I talked about today actually!! Oddly enough, he asked me what I wanted to use and what would be most efficient, so obviously I said reaper with my customizations, and he was more than willing to let me do so! Infact, I think I may have turned him onto the almighty Reaper ;)

So, you're engineering the whole album on a studio with loads of mics/outboard/pre's and routing that you have never used before? I know you track everything onto your interface right? You have no experience with signal chain on using different pre's, etc etc.

How does someone call someone that said person never met and invites him to engineer a big album for him out of nowhere? When, in a real situation, the other person could potentially screw this (not talking about you personally), and with Machine's experience I find this really weird and a bit disturbing as to how can someone just do this.

So you're not even assisting? You're actually being the head engineering? You're also mixing this at his place with him? As in, both of you mixing this record?

Not trying to be a dick, just trying to understand the ropes. Anyway, it's an excellent opportunity, make the most of it! Congrats!

Congrats man! As someone who has had a few exciting and "interesting" opportunities creep up recently in a similar fashion, I have a good idea of how excited you must be!

I've been studying.. A lot.. I think he understands that I work hard as fuck and have a drive to be knowledgable and good at what I do.

.. I've done some pretty sick records, actually.. Not trying to toot my own horn, but I think I've got a couple records out that are going to be pretty big...

Like I said Nick, I'm not bashing you or anything. I'm just questioning the logistics of the whole ordeal, basically just trying to understand the roles and whatnot! So, you're actually head engineering or engineering side by side with Machine? Is he mixing it then?

It's a fucking great opportunity and you'll prolly get to have a listen to what Putney has coming up as well and shit, that is pretty cool! Like I previously said, make the most out of it! GO! :)
