Oh come one?!

Okay, I will chime in on this. First, I haven't really cared about Van Halen since Fair Warning, well, maybe I thought Diver Down was pretty good. I haven't listened to them in years (to my ears their stuff does NOT age well - timeless it is not - but hey, that's just me). Aaaaanyway, from the news stories I've read Eddie is absolutely, clearly three sheets to the wind, bars in the window....if you catch my meaning. I honestly think he is descending into madness, or something like it. At the very least, he has severe issues. Between the "I cured cancer," claim, the porno thing, and now this...well, the guy just simply does not have a clue. Oh, and that's not to mention that even though he DID have tongue cancer, he has not quit smoking or drinking....

Unless something happens in a very positive manner (and I doubt it will) I'm pretty sure this thing will just continue on the downward spiral. It doesn't matter if they get DLR again or not, in fact, that won't help at all. Then there would be two people in that band out of touch with reality....not good. Van Halen is over, and has been for some time.

Although I liked all their albums up to and NOT including VHIII, I have no interest in seeing them live again. From Eddie's drunk and, from what I've heard, sloppy playing on the last tour, to DLR (if he comes back for this rumored tour) who couldn't even remember the lyrics...um, ever.....Why ruin the good memories I have of my first concert ever? 3/30/84 at MSG. You know the ticket prices will be ridiculous too.

As weird as it sounds, Michael Anthony not being there would be a huge reason for me not to see them. His backing vox are as much a part of this band as Alex's cymbals or Eddie's whammy. His voice would be missed in a live setting, IMO.

I liked the Sammy years - some albums much more than others - but it was never the same to me. I saw them twice with Hagar (88 and 91), and they were great.

And like Wiz said, their stuff did not age well, IMO, except for a select group of songs. A good portion of their stuff is PLAYED OUT.
